I can still remember those cold winter mornings when my Mom fixed Quaker Oats for breakfast. Her saying was that it warmed you up from the inside and was good for you. A nice hot bowl of oatmeal and toast was a great way to start any day.

Quaker Oats

Here I am some 45 years later and I still love the taste of a bowl of Quaker Oats and a couple of slices of buttered toast. I even ate this before they said it controlled cholesterol but that is not why I eat it. The best way is to add a sliced banana to it and enjoy the rich creamy texture of pure comfort food.

I also use Quaker Oats to make meatloaf and oatmeal cookies. Although I have no problem with my cholesterol I try to eat at least one bowl a week if not more. Just 5 minutes is all it takes and it is better for you than cold cereal and gives you some nutrients your body needs.

Bottom Line

I love the taste of oatmeal and with or without fruit it is a great way to start your day. It makes meatloaf taste better and helps hold it together. As my little brother used to call it "Glue paste with lumps" it does seem to stick to your ribs and is very filling as well. It helps lower cholesterol so it is good for you. With honey in it it is like heaven on earth and has a very pleasant taste I love to enjoy. My Grandpa used to take a piece of honey comb and put it in his oatmeal, yes real honey comb not the cereal...lol

It's hard to go wrong with a pure, wholesome cereal like old fashioned Quaker Oats (and a great way to start the morning on cold January days!)
