On my quest to try to eat healthier, I found a new granola bar at the store that promised 25% less sugar.  I picked up a couple of boxes of these because they are made by Quaker and I'm telling you these little granola bars are great!  Today, I'm going to tell you about the Cookies and Cream flavor.  Sounds tastey?  They are!

Quaker 25% Less Sugar Cookies & Cream Granola Bars

The Quaker 25% Less Sugar Cookies & Cream Granola Bars come in a box of 10 individually wrapped bars and retails for around $2.69-$2.99 a box.  Each bar is .84 oz. and contains 90 calories.  Compared to other granola bars, this one may be a bit smaller but it doesn't compromise any flavor and contains less calories.

Quaker 25% Less Sugar Cookies & Cream Granola Bars contain 0 grams of trans fat, only 5 grams of sugar and are cholesterol free.  In additon to containing 25% less sugar, the bars are made from whole grain oats and packed with 7 different vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients

Granola (whole grain rolled oats, sugar, rice flour, whole grain rolled wheat, partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils** with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness and/or sunflower oil with natural tocopherol added to preserve freshness, whole wheat flour, molasses, sodium bicarbonate, soy lecithin, caramel color, barley malt, salt, nonfat dry milk), corn syrup, cookie pieces (enriched flour [wheat flour, niacin*, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate*, riboflavin*, folic acid*], high fructose corn syrup, sugar, caramel color, cocoa [processed with alkali], corn flour, salt, dextrose, sodium bicarbonate, soy lecithin), crisp rice (rice, sugar, salt, barley malt), confectionery chips (sugar, partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oil**, nonfat dry milk, artificial color, soy lecithin), oligofructose, polydextrose, corn syrup solids, sunflower oil, glycerin, water, hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oils**, fructose, calcium carbonate, high fructose corn syrup, salt, natural and artificial flavors, soy lecithin, molasses, sucralose, BHT (a preservative), citric acid.

My Viewpoint

I love these little granola bars.  The Cookies & Cream flavor is very flavorful.  I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw 25% less sugar on the box as far as how this granola bar would taste.  Would it be dry and have a bland flavor?  No, it wasn't anything like that at all!  It contains just the right amount of sugar to let you enjoy the sweetness but not put you into sugar overload.  The Cookie flavor is contained in the granola bar with small little dark pieces which resemble chocolate.  This is rolled together with oats and granola and makes a great breakfast on the go or mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack.

There are other flavors available such as chocolate chip and peaunt butter chocolate chip.  I can't wait to try these!  They also have a variety pack that contains each of the flavors.

If you are watching your weight or trying to like me, this is a great way to have a snack and not feel guilty about it.  This one has low enough sugar content that my husband who is diabetic can also have a bar every now and then.  These are also great snacks for children.  It seems like there are lots of unhealthy snacks on the market these days.  This is a good alternative to those; they are healthy and taste good!

Haven't had this particular flavor, but, I love the Quaker Granola Bars. I'll try out the less sugar ones now that I know they are out there! Thanks!

You know, I think the reduced sugar would make this an excellent breakfast item. It sure would be a lot better than some of those sugared cereals! I might try that peanut butter variety!
