The majority of mixing bowls that I had before getting this Pyrex Prepware 6-Piece Sculptured Mixing Bowl Set set were plastic and stained. Needless to say, I was happy to accept these bowls from my mother-in-law and give them a try. Nearly two years later, they are still one of the most used mixing bowl sets in my kitchen.
The Bowls
This six piece Pyrex mixing bowl set includes three clear glass mixing bowls (3, 6, and 10 cup) with navy colored plastic lids. The outside of the mixing bowls are ribbed to add a little flair to the set. These bowls are lightweight yet durable.
According to the manufacturer, the product features of this Pyrex set are as follows:
~Sculptured and fluted bowls bring style to the table
~Practical for food preparation - beautiful for serving
~Pyrex glass is non-porous, so it won't absorb food odors, food flavors or food stains
~Pyrex glass is safe in the oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher
~Manufacturer's 2-year full warranty on ovenware
~Manufacturer's 1-year full warranty on parts/accessories
~Made in the U.S.A.
This set is now selling online for around $16.99. Prices do vary a little so you may want to search the net a bit before making a final decision. I am not aware if this exact set is still being sold in stores but I do know you can purchase the bowls separately at some retail stores.
My Experience
Now that I have my Pyrex Prepware 6-Piece Sculptured Mixing Bowl Set, I have thrown away most of my plastic bowls. My plastic ones were discolored, out of shape and just plain ugly.
I have used this set of mixing bowls so many times that I couldn't even begin to count. There are unlimited uses for these bowls. I have used these bowls to scramble eggs and mix pancake batter and cake mixes to just name a few. The ribbed design on the bowls, gives them just enough elegance to proudly use the bowls for serving. I especially like that the bowls are clear in color because the contents are easily seen.
Storing leftovers couldn't be easier. All I have to do is simply snap the lids on and put the bowls right into the fridge. Whenever we want to finish the leftovers, I just take the bowls out of the fridge, lift the lids on them a bit to allow for steam to escape and directly into the microwave they go.
Cleaning these mixing bowls couldn't be easier. You can either hand wash or put them in the dishwasher. I usually put the bowls in the dishwasher but hand wash the lids. There is nothing on the packaging that suggests doing this but I just don't like taking the chance that the plastic lids might get disfigured from the heat. I'm not so worried in the microwave because the lids are on the bowls.
We have had these bowls for about two years and there is no sign of wear and tear. The lids still fit tightly and are not, in any way, discolored or disfigured. There are no chips and definitely no stains.
Final Thoughts
The Pyrex Prepware 6-Piece Sculptured Mixing Bowl Set is high in quality, is versatile, attractive and so easy to clean. I would definitely recommend this set and, because of the excellent experience that I have had with it so far, I am going with a 5 star rating.
