Pyrex Baking Dishes —

I'm always in a hurry, and I am constantly running into walls, banging things against my counter tops, and setting things down too hard.  Fortunately, most of the bakeware I have has survived my 9-year marriage because we wisely purchased several pieces of Pyrex.  The company has expanded into metal bakeware and storage, but this review will only address the glass bakeware line.

Pyrex bakeware comes in multiple sets or pieces can be puchased individually.  Every kind of pan imaginable is available: 9"x13", 8"x8", loaf pans, pie plates, and the list goes on.  In addition to bakeware, I own a small glass mixing bowl, and Pyrex also peddles measuring cups.  You really could have a kitchen that has no bakeware other than Pyrex!  Several color options are available, from azure blue to amethyst purple to crystal clear.  The glass from which Pyrex is made is extremely durable: it can be frozen and then put directly into a hot oven without cracking.  For busy and impatient people like myself, that is a fantastic perk!

My Pyrex dishes have survived 5 moves without suffering any damage, not even a chip!  I have never had a problem with them when moving them from hot to cold or vice versa.  I am not gentle on my Pyrex, either.  I stack them on top of each other without any buffer pads.  The only problem I have had is that the non-stick spray I have used has gradually built up and now there's some gummy residue on the sides that I can't remove, regardless of what scouring powder or mesh pad I have tried on it.  But so far it has not affected the quality of baking, so it really is more a cosmetic issue.

Even folks with a small or fixed budget, like college students, couples just building their nests, or retired individuals, will be able to afford Pyrex.  Most glass pieces run less than $12.00, and many are as low as $7.99.  For an inexpensive, long-term investment, Pyrex is definitely the way to go!

I have the gunk build up on mine too but I still love them!

I've had Pyrex for well over 15 years, and they're as good as ever. :)
