This set is called the smart essentials and the name says it all as far as I am concerned. They are great. They are non-pourous so they don't soak up odor, clean easily and stay new looking. Performance These bowls are quality all of the way. They stay new looking, don't scratch easily, I even use the mixer in them. but the part that really sets them apart from other brands is the beautiful bright lids. They fit tight for no leaking or spilled foods. Can be placed in the freezer and they can be placed on the top shelf of the dishwasher. Ease of Cleaning Dishwasher safe and they look so clean and nice when placed in the dishwasher. I do put the lids on the top shelf. Durability These glass mixing bowls are quality and I like that they are made in the USA. In my opinion they are more suited for serving than for mixing however I have used them to make the batter for French toast. They store inside one another and take up less space than my wild plastic that seemed to be all over the place and I could never find the bowls/lids at the same time. Design These bowls have a clean sleek look and the colorful lids are perfect if taking a casserole, or veggie dish somewhere. Layered salads as well as other foods look so pretty that they just seem to taste better. Doesn't Stick I have used these in the oven and microwave and have never had a problem with sticking but if I am concerned I would just use a little cooking spray.

I absolutely love the 8-piece set of Pyrex Mixing Bowls and Lids. They are used in my kitchen almost every single day. I love that they are made of glass, so I can use them forever without worrying about bacteria growing in the porous walls (as with plastic). The glass is also much safer than other materials, without the worry of harmful chemicals, BPA, and suhc. Like all the other Pyrex products that I own, these dishes are made of a thick quality glass which resists chipping and breaking. Since my children are always helping me in the kitchen, this is vital. Do not let the name fool you: these Pyrex bowls are much more than just mixing bowls. Pyrex has done such a beautiful job with the design that they are perfect for serving bowls as well. My favorite thing about them is that I can mix up a salad early in the day, pop the lid on to keep in fresh in the fridge, and then pull it out that night and serve salad out of the same beautiful bowl for company.

I do a lot of cooking and baking, so I'm always looking for the easiest way to cook without having a lot of clean-up. One way this is made easier is by using the Pyrex 8 Piece Mixing Bowl Set with Color Covers. These come in the sizes of 1 quart, 1.5 quarts, 2.5 quarts, and 4 quarts. I like that you can add all of your ingredients directly to the pyrex bowl, put the whole thing in the microwave, oven, or refrigerator, and also serve directly from the Pyrex container. I also like that these are clear glass because I can tell what is stored inside the mixing bowl. I don't have to worry about forgetting the food in the refrigerator so it goes bad. When they are in clear containers I tend to remember what I made, and I am reminded to eat it as a left-over. These are also easy to wash because I put them directly in the dishwasher. They seem pretty sturdy because I never had problems with them breaking or chipping. Obviously you need to be a little more careful with them than you would be with a plastic container, but they also hold up better in the long run than plastic.

I purchased the Pyrex 8-piece Mixing Bowl Set with Color Covers set after receiving the Pyrex 18-piece Bake and Prepware Set as a gift. I was so impressed with the 18 piece set that I was inspired to purchase the 8-piece Mixing Bowl Set. The set comes with four different sized bowls and four different colored lids. The color lids are quite fetching, bright, bold and fun. I wanted a set with lids because I wanted to use these bowls for storage purposes as well as mixing/baking. I especially like how versatile these bowls are. They are great for baking tuna fish casserole, great for mixing cake batter, great for making and storing freshly made hummus, salads and dips. I was also impressed that the bowls are non-stick. Food does not stick to these bowls which helps speed up cleaning and ensures food doesn't get burnt or ruined. To add to these benefits, the bowls and lids are highly versatile (I have used them in the oven, microwave and refrigerator), durable and they clean up well. I think these bowls are excellent value for money and I have recommended them to friends and family.

Granted, when people start to think of mixing bowls I doubt most of them are considering the need to refrigerate or freeze the items and a lid does not matter in most cases. Therefore the reason right there is why you do not see most sets of modern mixing bowls with lids! The last matching set I think we had in our home growing up was from the infamous Tupperware brand. Here is where Pyrex steps it up. Glass! I am the lady who uses large clear mixing bowls to prep food and turn around and serve my food in it as well! Taboo, huh? I love prepping fruit salads, pasta salads, vegetable sides, etc the day before and being able to just pop the lid off and serve and glass matches everything! Another perk is being able to see what you have stored in the container. I sometimes like to prep pancake batter for the week and keep it accessible. The one thing glass mixing bowls has above any other besides the downfall of possible easy breakage with little hands, is that no food penetrates into the item staining or or leaving odors! Not wise to heat up things in as there are no handles and glass gets very hot in the microwave but for all the mixing and prep needs of a party or dinner they excel with modern day invention! Slight warning, if you do choose to heat something up with it, do not include the lid use saran wrap as the lids will bend and later not fit on correctly!

These Pyrex mixing bowls are a useful and practical addition to any kitchen. All my Pyrex dishes are safe to be used in the dishwasher, freezer, oven, and microwave, and they're all durable and high-quality. Obviously, since they're made of glass, they are prone to shattering when dropped on tile or another hard surface (I am speaking from experience here). They are also significantly heavier than plastic or even most metal mixing bowls, but because they're glass, you don't have to worry about them scratching, gouging, or staining regardless of the type of food you put in them or the type of implements you use to mix in them. Every kitchen needs a few good-sized mixing bowls, and these are an excellent choice, especially since there is a nice selection of sizes. The lids also make it handy to store leftovers (or cookie dough!). They also make nice serving bowls; salads look beautiful in them.

How unique are these bowls! Pyrex comes up with another fantastic idea! Performance I love that there are several different sizes of these bowls, all in this one set. I think the most unique part is the color coded lids that have the measurement of the bowls, printed right on them. This makes using them really easy as well as making finding the correct lid, a breeze. They work well for mixing an array of things Ease of Cleaning Cant get any easier than just throwing them in the dishwasher! I have hand washed them as well, but most of the time I just toss them in. Durability These bowls, and their lids, are holding up strong. I knew the bowls would last, but wasn't too sure about the lids because they are plastic. Proud to say they are doing great! Design How AWESOME is this design! I could not get over the measurements right on the lids and the fact that they are different colors too! Doesn't Stick I haven't had a problem with sticking, but I don't always bake in these bowls, I use them mainly for mixing although when I have baked in them, I always spray first

Pyrex is a great brand and their eight piece mixing bowl set is just one of many great products I've used from them over the years. My mom has had a set for years and since we spend a lot of time cooking together, I've used them more times than I can count. They are simple, they work, they last forever, and they have a little pop of color to keep things interesting. Ease of Cleaning These bowls are crazy easy to clean, even my stickiest and messiest dishes wipe or rinse right out of them with next to no effort. Durability My mom uses these daily and I use them at least once a week to whip up whatever new dish I'm trying out. They've been abused and dropped and ran through the dishwasher a billion times and they look and work just like new. Design Very simple and clean but extremely effective. Plus the colored tops make them kind of fun and different. Doesn't Stick Everything just slides right out of these bowls. I've never had a single issue with gross, stuck behind mess.
