Puzzle Buzz and Puzzlemania magazines for kids by Highlights

www.highlights.com

For several years my daughter has enjoyed the fun puzzles in Puzzlemania, a fun game magazine from Highlights. Little brother has always been a bit jealous of the arrival of her Puzzlemania and the fact that he couldn’t participate in her fun.

Now Highlights is offering Puzzle Buzz, a game magazine for just his age. Our son loves it!

Puzzle Buzz is a fun, interactive magazine for ages 4 through 7. Each book has 32 pages of challenges that practice math, reading and problem-solving skills. Generally these can be done completely independently although younger kids may need help with directions initially.

Features of Puzzle Buzz:

Easy mazes
Beginners Word searches
“What’s different?” pages
Photo puzzles
Fun with numbers, letters, sound and words
Dot-to-dots
Matching games
There are also three sticker pages and activities in each book.

Puzzlemania is a challenging puzzle magazine billed for ages 7-12. Personally, I think it is best suited for ages 7-10. These games build vocabulary, reasoning skills and analytical thinking that can improve their academic and standardized test taking skills.

Features of Puzzlemania:

Map fun
Wacky word hunts
Tricky secret codes
Crafty crosswords
Brain-teaser number games
Hidden pictures
Memory games

These are just a few of the unique and challenges puzzles in Puzzlemania.

Puzzle Buzz and Puzzlemania are great to have on hand for in the car time, waiting time in restaurants or doctors offices or rainy days. Kids can do them independently but they are also great for some snuggle up one on one time. My daughter loves to take turns finding Hidden Pictures with Mom and my son loves to impress us with his maze skills. As a parent, I am just treasuring this time that they still want to include me in their fun!

Highlights makes it easy for shoppers because if you’re not sure which books, Puzzle Buzz or Puzzlemania, are right for you child, you can request a switch at any time.

My Viewpoint:

We’ve been happy with Puzzlemania for years and now we’re delighted to find Puzzle Buzz for our littlest puzzler. Highlights does a great job making both of these educational and fun. Puzzlemania and Puzzle Buzz are great gifts that keep on giving. Thank you Highlights!

Perfect! Highlights is aptly named, isn't it?

That is just like my Mom taught me 50 years ago. The mag was Highlights for Children, then. ;>

I haven't heard of either of these. I bet my girls would really like Puzzle Buzz.

Well, in another year my grandson will be ready for Puzzle Buzz. I can hardly wait. I love puzzles myself, and I think it will be a fun way to introduce him to the concept. Thanks for another informative review. :)

This sounds like fun! My boys are now 7 and 10 so a little too old for it. Good review!

Thanks for staying in touch. I had a motorcycle wreck and just got out of hosp after 5 weeks. Still touch and go. Thanks!

As much as you travel, these would be great plane ride magazines.

Sounds pretty good....I think it's something my daughter would really get into.
