Pushing Daisies Review Summary

Come listen to the story of a man named Ned, with the touch of his finger he can bring you back from dead. See, Ned is a simple pie maker with a not-so-simple gift. His mere touch can bring a person back from the dead. The catch is the person he brings back is revived for more than one minute, something else must die in its place to keep the balance. Also, if he touches the person again within the minute, they can never be brought back again. Having been unable to resist the temptation to bring his long lost childhood friend back when he discovers her murdered, he also refused to touch her again within a minute so he would not have to lose her again. As a result, her father drops dead. This information is unknown to her even though she knows she is alive because of Ned's touch. Add to this that Ned can never touch her again or she will die forever and you have what has been described as, "one of the quirkiest, most-inventive shows I have come across in a long time." Pushing Daisies is whimsical, dark and romantic in a colorful, fairy tale setting. This is fantasy with a dark side that, "While the plot line of bring dead things to life may seem a little dark, the humor, romance, and even the colorful way it is filmed can still keep your heart light while they are solving murder cases." Reviewers rave, "What at great find in a wasteland of poor comedies and me-too police procedural."

If you haven't yet watched Pushing Daisies you really should. This is a really beautiful show with a very unusual plot. The main character Ned can touch a dead thing and bring it back to life but if he touches it again it will be dead forever. His girlfriend, Chuck, is one of the people he can never touch again or she will die, this is a fun twist.

The sets are beautiful, the show is full of color and visually it is very appealing.

Everyone I've recommended this show to has loved it! Give Pushing Daisies a try.

Oh, I forgot to say it's on ABC Wed. night at 8:00 pm.

Pushing Daisies is in its first season, and already a hit.  Ned, an adorably quirky boyish guy who owns a pieshop, somehow has the power to reawaken the dead for only one minute by touching them once. After another touch, the victim dies again and Ned cannot bring them back. If Ned chooses not to touch someone he brought back to life, someone else would die in their place. After meeting Emerson, a private Investigator who discovers Ned's secret, he agrees to solve murder cases to collect the rewards. One case involves Ned's childhood sweetheart Charlotte, whom he calls "Chuck." He brings her...

Honestly, I think Pushing Daisies is the best television show in years! I don't even think my review will do it justice, it really is fantastic. Every week I am left wanting more, and just seeing all the pie makes me want to work out more. They look delectable. The colors are incredibly vivid and the props are amazing. The show is reminiscent of James and the Giant Peach, the reasons being, and implausible plots, and wonderful imagery. Not to say that the story itself isn't fulfilling, I feel engaged throughout every episode, it's never dull. It is the best escape, I am glad to say that every Wednesday...

If you haven't done yourself a favor and watched this show, now is the time!  This show has a charming premise, brilliant actors, beautiful cinematography, and generally delightful episodes.  The humor and beauty of the story are easy to appreciate, showing that there is still something good coming out of the entertainment industry.

'Pushing Daisies' is fantastic fun for anyone tired of the same old television show. In an era over rung with tired detective shows, 'Pushing Daisies' brings a fresh new reason to start watching television again.

What would happen if a young boy discovered he could bring people back from the dead (with a dire set of limitations)? And what would that boy grow into as an adult? How would his 'gift' affect his life? And what if the women he's loved all his life died? 'Pushing Daisies' is about a boy named Ned who discovers he has a unique gift for bringing the dead back to life. These questions ultimately...

Pushing Daisies (ABC, Wednesays at 8 P.M.) is one of the quirkiest, most-inventive shows I have come across in a long time.

I watch a lot of TV - and will "sample" just about anything, sans horror junk and soap operas, so that I can figure out what works for me.

Thus my wife and I sat down in September and tried Pushing Daisies.

Granted the plot - a piemaker has the power to touch a dead person and bring them back to life for one full minute - was very off the wall - but I was intrigued by the style of the show none the less.

One hour later, we were both hooked!

Everyhting about the show - from the...

When I first heard the premise of Pushing Daisies, I figured I had to watch, if for no other reason than the idea is so interesting. A man can bring people back from the dead, but if he touches them again, they will die. If he keeps someone (person or animal) alive more than a minute, some one else or something else will die in its place.
There are so many things I love about the show. The visuals alone are amazing- super bright colors, interesting sets/costumes etc.
But the best reason to watch are the characters. There is the woman in love with Ned, who he does not love back. There is Ned's childhood...

I am not a person who watches much tv but I will take time out every Wednesday to watch Pushing Daisies.  This show has such great writing/acting/filming it is surprising to me that anyone would just flat out not like it.  I am an English major and I really think each episode is so well thought out that it could be a short story.  The characters are so fun and it isn't one of those annoying trying to suck you in with cliffhangers kind of shows...the makers rely on the quirky characters and funny plot lines to bring in an audience.  Though at first glance it might seem like a girl show (what...

A wonderfully quirky show that explores an interesting theme.  Ned, the Pie Maker, has the strange ability to bring dead things back to life, but this comes with two caveats: when he touches one thing back to life, something else of equal value dies in its place; and when he touches a dead thing to life, he cannot touch it again, for it will die again forever.
This is all fine when Emerson Cod, a pop-up-book-loving, knitting detective, joins with Ned to wake murder victims, ask who killed them, and reap the rewards.  But this becomes problematic when he wakes his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte...

As a person who usually watches comedies, I wasn't really into watching Pushing Daisies for the first time. However, I was surprised at the amount of entertainment I got from watching even one episode.

Upon watching an episode, I asked myself, "Is this really a soap opera? It's so... supernatural." I loved watching Pushing Daisies as the main plot unfolded. It has so many genres: drama, sci-fi, even a little comedy.

Pushing Daisies is mainly about a guy who finds out that he has the power to raise people, animals, even plants and fruits; from the dead. He finds out and learns the rules of his powers...

Pushing Daisies is an amazing show. I'm very sad to see it go but I will definately buy the DVD. The show is about a Piemaker that has a special talent. If he touches a dead person, he can bring them back to life. However, if he keeps them alive for more than a minute someone else will die. He and a private dectective go around solving murders. He touches the dead person, asks them who killed them, then touches the them again. He meets up withhis childhood sweetheart this way, but he doesn't have the heart to let her go back to being dead after the minute is up. Instead she lives with him above...

Pushing Daisys must have been developed by someone who saw a real need for something new on television. It doesn't really remind me directly of anything, but if I had to choose a show that it may come close to, well, that would be the Ghost and Mrs. Muir, which is why I believe it was developed my someone in my age group. ( 40's, that's all I will say )!

It is a love of two people that can never really be together, so in this way, it shows true love. There is also a case to solve every week, so there is mystery. There is tons of humor, and the charaters play well off each other. I believe it shopuld...

This is the BEST new show. Quirky and original - I love the narration and the plot lines - I am sick of the dramas and the reality shows - I just want to be entertained and watch a cute storyline - this is IT!! I love it!  The premise that a young boy discovers that he can touch something dead and bring it back to life - but touch it again and it dies forever.  And bring something back to life for more than a minute and something else in close proximty has to die in it's place.  Very quirky list of characters and the storyline keeps unfolding every week to keep us watching.

I was so excited when I saw that Pushing Daisies season one was on DVD.  I missed the show on TV the first season and I had a blast watching all the first season episodes on DVD.  I loved the extras included on the DVD.  I couldn't wait for season two to premiere on television.  It was hard to wait from week to week for new episodes!  Pushing Daisies had a magical mystical quality to it and I loved the characters and the story and plot.  I am so disappointed that Pushing Daisies was cancelled.  But I can enjoy it on DVD.
