We switched our dogs over from Authority Chicken (pet smart brand) to Purina Pro plan shredded chicken. The reason was quite simple, Pet Smart is 70 miles away, while a new Petco store is only 5 or 6. These two dog foods are roughly comparable in price and ingredients, with Authority having a slight edge.
The dogs like the taste and have had no bad reactions to it. There is a lot of marketing put into promoting ultra premium dog foods, just as much as promoting low quality dog food. For low quality dog foods it is all about taste, for ultra premium it is all about ingredient. The truth is almost all dogs can live happy healthy lives with mid range to premium dog foods like Iams, Pro plan, Purina one, Nutro and Authority. There is nothing wrong with grains in dog food unless your dog is allergic to them and they are balanced out with meat protein sources. There is nothing wrong with Animal by-product meal. It is just as much a protein source and Chicken meal or Lamb meal. Don't let American culture of only eating skeletal muscles bias you towards a less expensive meat product.
The one thing I don't care for about it is the Corn Gluten Meal. This is pure vegetable protein used the raise the protein % in the dog food. It is #5 on the list, and 2 meat sources come before it so it is not huge, but still not great.
Also do yourself a favor and stay away from the Beef varieties of these and other foods. It's a more expensive meat source, so it will include more vegetable protein to balance it out.
