I'm a small breeder of Beagles and usually have to feed an average of 10 dogs of varying ages, plus we need a high quality yet cost effective food for our litters. I will not settle for a cheap quality food and you better believe poor diet will devestate a breeding program faster than lightning! There was a time I thought quality meant breaking the bank spending $50-$60 for a 30lb bag of food that was named some magazine's "Top 10" or listed as being a "5 star" holistic diet on such and such website. I've fed those holistic diets for years but they never gave the long term results that we get from Purina!!! I literally had my breeding program saved by Purina ONE and Purina Dog Chow/Puppy Chow. I was pouring $$$$$ into the dogs left & right, yet they were not thriving. Dull/brittle coats, runny eyes/eye infections, incontinance, inconsistant stools, dogs not coming into heat ... This on brands like Timberwolf, Merrick, Canidae.

On Purina ONE, my 5yr old female, the foundation of my breeding program who'd been attacked by another dog almost 2yrs ago and who had never been the same since, just came back to life! Her coat had been brittle and falling out. No energy at all. Purina ONE truly saved her life. She runs and plays with the other dogs and her coat is exquisite. Thick, full, soft and shiny. The dog we thought was just going to fade away is now as vibrant as she was @ 2yrs old and will soon bless us with her final litter. We've also had severe skin problems/diarrhea on foods like Merrick, that cost me $46 for 25lbs. My pups were covered in scabs and hot spots until being switched to Purina Puppy Chow. For that, we pay approx. $6 for 17 lbs ... it's normally $13, but we have the rebate checks from the Purina Pro Club for breeders. We can get the 55lb bonus bag of Dog Chow for $18-20, again, less with the rebate checks. Who would have thought that after all these years of throwing money out the window all I had to do was forget the hype and marketing gimmicks and not feel guilty feeding Purina. This is the best food I've ever used, it simply blows the competition out of the water!

As a fellow hound lover on the other end of the spectrum-Irish Wolfhounds...I appreciate a reasonable cost quality food more than you could know. I have found that Purina is stable, consistent, and has a long history of manufacturing animal feeds of all types, so their research and development is pretty state of the art. The Purina ONE line gives even more options for our German Shepherd adoptee with the touchy tum and serious hip issues (ONE Sensitive Formula w/salmon meal) I do supplement with Kelp, Plain yogourt, fish oil, and Mirra coat...to keep in top condition for showing...
