I received a free sample of Purina Carvers for my dogs and recently fed it to them. I think if my dogs could speak, they would have shouted, "THANK YOU!". I have never seen either of my dogs enjoy a treat as much as they seemed to enjoy Purina Carvers chicken flavored treats.
The sample bag came with two treats, and they were large enough that I had to break them in half for the dogs to eat them. Purina Carvers look like pieces of meat that have been dehydrated and preserved in a healthy manner. The same that we received was the chicken flavor, and it literally looked like someone had sliced a piece of white breast meat off the chicken in a good sized piece, and allowed it to become completely dried out. The texture was firm, yet chewy, and my dogs seemed to really like it. In fact, the two pieces seemed like a tease and I had to go out and buy a bag of Purina Carvers chicken flavor treats the next day.
At the store, I was able to see that Purina Carvers are offered in two flavors. Chicken and beef. The beef looked just as tasty as the chicken, and I would definitely buy it for the dogs next time. The packing states that the meat is naturally seasoned and cooked in the oven. The treats are made with 80% real chicken (or beef) and are naturally high in protein.
The price for a bag of Purina Carverswas around $ 3.99, which is not a bad price, but they aren't a lot of treats in a bag. I didn't count the treats, but there was approximately 15 - 20 treats in each bag. The bag was resealable, which makes it convenient to keep the treats fresh and available. Because of the price, though, I would have to use Purina Carvers treats as a special reward for my dogs, and not something that I would give them daily.
Since first learning of Purina Carvers, I've been seeing them everywhere I go. They are available in department stores, grocery stores, pet specialty stores, pharmacies, and even in some veterinary offices. I have found that the price is less expensive at department stores such as Walmart.
Bottom Line - My animals really enjoy the taste and texture of Purina Carvers, and they are what I would consider a gourmet treat for dogs. I will continue to buy this snack for my dogs, as I think they make an extra-special reward because they seem so much more tasty than regular dog treats. Because of the price, however, it's not something that I would give them everyday. If you like to pamper your pet, I would recommend this product. Your pet will thank you for it!
