There have been some negative comments written about this product on another review, so I thought I'd lend a different perspective.

As a former dog-food snob, I would NEVER have bought a dog-food brand that you get at Target or the supermarket.  I love my dog, want only the best for him (a 7 year-old beagle) and don't mind spending the money on high quality food or making special trips to the vet or Petsmart.   Well, that changed a few years ago when we relocated and had to find a new vet.  After seeing our dog's weight, she suggested that I give him Healthy Weight Beneful to help him lose the extra lbs.  She was almost embarrassed to recommend it, but said "it worked for my dog."

We had previously tried every other recommendation you could think of (since our old vet also warned us that our beagle was getting too heavy and would not live as long).  We tried lots of high-end products, special diets and other ridiculous rituals - and still no weight loss.
But within 6 months of using Beneful my dog lost all of his excess fat and was back in a perfect weight class without any more exercise than he was already getting.   And it's not because he hated the taste...in fact, he loved it and still does!  That's more than I can say for some of the stuff we put in front of him.

The fact that it is inexpensive and easy to get at the supermarket is just an added bonus for this dog food, which has done wonders for my dog's health (even if it doesn't have all the high-end ingredients of the expensive stuff).

Wow I just read my old comment on your review. I was kind of the "B" word. I sound so superior. Haha. I actually have changed my dogs food to Taste of the Wild which he loves, is good for him and actually makes not only his coat shine, but his nails have cleared up too. I hope the Beneful is still working for your pup.

Different things work for different dogs and quite frankly I'm going to let me dog eat what he likes not force down healthy food. It would be nice if I could afford that healthy food all the time if Barkley likes it but..... I did just return from PetCo with Barkley and I got some coupons for some dog food that has lots of vegetables and fruit and other "good food" for dogs, so I guess we'll try it. As long as your Beagle is happy right?

I am going to email this over to my brother - his dog is so fat! He says, "Oh he's just a bit chubby" but he's fat!!
