I have used Purex because it hasn't caused me skin allergies like many of the other laundry detergents, Tide in particular. Purex also tends to be about $3 cheaper per bottle than the more expensive name brands. About two or three months ago *someone wrote a review on Purex Natural Elements, I think. Or maybe I saw it in a store and just thought I already heard of it. Well, when it was time to get more laundry detergent I went to Wal-Mart and got a bottle of Purex Natural Elements Ultra Concentrate.
Now remember, I haven't used many "natural" products so I was thinking this stuff would probably either stink or have no scent at all. Well, it smells like bubble gum. I got the linen and lilies scent. I'm not sure if there are other scents available at this time or not. This one smells wonderful.
The 100 FL OZ bottle yields approximately 64 loads because it is 2x concentrated. It doesn't produce a lot of bubbles in the wash but you can tell it's working. My clothes come out clean and they smell fresh thanks to my Ultra Downy Tahitian Waterfall fabric softener. I saw a con that said not to be mixed with bleach, but when I did a white load I mixed mine with Clorox bleach and my clothes come out fine. I don't know if someone had a bad experience but I just re-read the bottle and I didn't see any warning signs telling me not to mix it with bleach. And just today, I had a laundry mishap and had to treat a stain with OxiClean Laundry Stain Remover and the Purex and OxiClean combined did just fine and it saved my Big Dog sweatshirt too!
The following is on the bottle:
Ingredients include naturally derived cleaning agents (coconut and/or palm based surfactants), naturally softened water and fragrance with naturally derived fragrance extracts.
The bottle is made from 25% or more post consumer recycled plastic. Purex is manufactured by the Dial Corporation. Purex comes in a variety of fragrances but I believe as long as I can get my hands on this I will continue to use it. I believe it costs about $5, give or take 50 cents.
Okay, after posting my review I was able to see who all had written reviews and the *someone I was making reference to would be LisaCarey. She posted a review on September 18th. I went back and read her review to see if I had commented and I had. I was relatively new to Viewpoints and it showed in my comment because it was no where near as personal and funny as they are now. And, Lisa, for the record: I wasn't able to get my hands on the Apple and Melon so I still have something to look forward to the next time I get my detergent!
