Pumpkin Master Deluxe Pumpkin Carving Set —

The Case

Last Halloween, I was determined to carve pumpkins. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I had not been able to enjoy this tradition for about two or three years prior to 2006, and by God, I wasn’t going to miss it again! So, we headed out for supplies, namely pumpkins and a carving kit. We chose our pumpkins and grabbed a $3 carving set. Who would have ever guessed that this was the best spent $3 ever?!

The Good

That $3 carving set is called the Pumpkin Master Deluxe Pumpkin Carving Set, and, after the second year around, it’s still going strong! So, two years of use now, with at least one more in the works, and the whole thing only cost me three measly bucks! Amazing!

The set includes six carving instruments: a large scraper for the inside guts, a small scraper for detail carving, a mini scraper meant for some purpose that I haven’t discovered yet, a handy pattern puncher, an outline pencil, and two different-sized detail carvers. In addition, it comes with 12 carving patterns for your actual pumpkin. We’re talking witches, skulls, haunted houses, bats, etc. Good stuff. The kids love ‘em.

The set is easy-to-use for kids and adults alike, especially the large pumpkin scraper. I’d pay $10 bucks just for that thing! You can literally have your pumpkin gutted in like 3 minutes! I’ll never carve another pumpkin without it. The carvers are great, too, especially if you’re really into detailed pumpkin designs. I’m pretty much in heaven with this carving set!

The Bad

After a lot of hard use, I guess it’s only natural that the thin-bladed carvers would get a little bendy. It really doesn’t affect the end result, though. And I’ve learned to use them, regardless of their bendiness. Also, did I mention how awesome that big scraper is? I’d love to have a second one standing by. It’s very rare that one carves pumpkins by oneself, so a duplicate would be really handy!

The Verdict

Five stars! Thanks to the Pumpkin Master Deluxe Pumpkin Carving Kit, we can create masterpieces every Halloween!

God bless you! In my hands, that set of tools would have been DEADLY. I have always admired people who could carve pumpkins because I never could!

I liked this kit a lot, but I broke the blade right away...I was to gun-ho.
