Puerto Vallarta has quickly become a favorite destination for myself and my family! We have been 3 times in the last 3 years and plan to return again this March! The quaint cobblestone streets and sidewalk restaurants are reminiscent of Europe and completely romantic! A visit to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's previous getaway home is quite romantic as you rewind through time. Restaurant styles widely vary from 5 star with world renown chefs to hidden inexpensive and delicious old town spots where each will enlighten your experience! The artist galleries are a definite must and there are many to choose from along with the bi-weekly open gallery on the malecon (boardwalk)! There are many independent and unique jewelry designers too!
Your Puerto Vallarta experience does not have to be only for the romantic and laid back. If you choose, there are options of a canopy tour (zipping above the jungle trees), bike tours, hiking, fishing, horseback riding or learning how to surf! January through May are the height of the mating season for humpback whales and dolphins. You will clearly be able to see them frolicking in the bay or take a tour and get up close! Or take an eco-tour and interact with the sea turtles, exotic birds and snorkle amongst beautiful ocean fish!
The downtown beach is not for swimming but pristine beaches are extremely close by! You may choose from the ever popular if you are in search of some excitement or the secluded for a bit more privacy and peacefulness! Whether you are an adventure seeker, history buff, art collector, jewelry lover, eco-friendly visitor or just in search of some warm weather and peaceful oceanside breezes if you open your senses you will definitly enjoy Puerto Vallarta for all that it brings!
