Publix Grocery - Many Cities, Many States Review

Until I became a couponer, I always thought of Publix as the "expensive" supermarket.  They have fancy sales circulars, complimentary carry-out service and in-store deli-cafes.  Their prices were consistently higher than other local stores like Kroger and Ingles. However, once I started couponing, I realized that the best deals were consistently at Publix.

I love retailers who double or triple coupons, price match competitor's prices and accept competitors coupons.  In Atlanta, where I have lived for the past 9 years, triple coupons are a rare find.  Publix is one of three grocery stores that doubles coupons.   Publix will double any coupon up to $0.50 in value.  They also accept any competitors coupon, with very few limitations.  What is really wonderful about Publix is that they are known for putting out large amounts of store coupons, which can be used in conjunction with traditional manufacturer's coupons.

My favorite part of shopping at Publix is their weekly buy one, get one free (BOGO) deal.  They always have a long list of items that are BOGO.  Often times, these BOGO items correspond with recent manufacturer's coupons.  Several times, there have also been competitors coupons which match up with these items.  This results in what I call the "savings trifecta":  Half priced items combined with a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon.

Shopping at Publix has allowed me to fill my pantry (and the pantries of several friends and family members) with groceries for pennies on the dollar.  A week does not pass that I do not get several items from Publix for FREE!!  I have literally cut my grocery spending from $800/month to less than $300.
