Prozac Antidepressant —

I lost my second grandchild in a 2 year period and really had a difficult time dealing with it all. I finally opted to go on this medication Prozac as my anxiety was so severe I couldn't sleep, function, mind stop, etc. After 3 weeks of mild side effects I really had some relief and kinda felt somewhat a little normal again. After 4 months of being on this medication however, my sexual function went from always desirable to none and not being able to sexually function anymore, enough to take myself off this. I am now on my 3rd week of going off this medication and I have to say it has been pure hell!!! I have been so tired and my muscles are so dang weak. I feel like somewhat beat my whole body up. Although I feel like this medication really helped me at such a trying time in my life, I would not recommend anyone to have to go on this medication. It is too much hell to go through to get off it!!

In response to RudiXeno's comment from May 5, 2009 at 5:14PM:

I did actually stop this under Dr.'s supervision, but it was making me so sick trying to slowly wean myself off, I just dealt with the serious side effects to get it out of my system ASAP. The major side effects going off it quickly, was worth getting it out of my system faster, as I had too many serious side effects from this medication to begin with and it was adding to my issues at the time. Have been off this medication for over a year now as of May, after the loss of my second grandchild and have since been using anxiety meds that seem to help with my problems much more.

Did you discontinue thismedication under your Dr.'s supervision? I seem to recall that this is a medication that should not be halted abruptly, but weaned off of by decreasing the dosage over a period of time.
