LOVE it!!!

Makes kitchen work super fast! It chops evenly in no time flat!! You can chop onions, vegetables, or even eggs or avocados for a super fast salad. I love fact that there are two blade sizes for fine and larger dice. Every time I show it to someone they want one! Ease of Cleaning (Just don't loose the cleaning tool!)

One of my favorite kitchen gadgets!

I received this for a wedding gift over six years ago and still use it frequently. It cuts down significantly on the onion smell. I used to hate cutting up onions. I would suggest to cut an onion in fourths before chopping. The package said to cut it in half but it bent up my blades. The store I received it from replaced it for me. It has worked very well and has cut down on the time chopping onions or even tomatoes (for pico de gallo). I gave it a four because it is a bit hard to clean. I would suggest this for any new couple's registry. I have bought it for a few of my friends as well! Ease of Cleaning It is hard to clean between the blades. The "comb" given for the top part is very helpful. Durability If used properly it is pretty durable. Again, please cut your onion in fourths. Design It is a very good idea and design. The cleaning factor could be improved.

Great Chopper

I love the progressive onion chopper! It's a great time saver and doesn't take up much space on my countertop. The chopper dices the vegetables into perfectly even square pieces. The size of the pieces are perfect for dressing salads and other foods. Cleaning the chopper, however, is not fun. Although it comes with a small scrapper, the cleaning process is still time consuming as you have to pick through to make sure all the pieces are removed. All in all, I think it's a great purchase.

Progressive Onion Chopper is ok.

I have mixed feeling about the Progressive Onion Chopper. One the one hand I do love the idea of it. I have senstive eyes, and so whenever I chop onions I feel the effect rather quickly, and as everyone knows, the stinging sensation burns. That's what prompted me to buy this item, though I do think it's on the pricey side. The onion chopper consists of a bottom that is clearly marked with measurements so you know how much you're getting if you need to measure your ingredient. On top lays the metal gird shaped like sqaures so you get small squares as your final product when you use it. The white lid top is pretty strong so all you have to do is snap the lid shut and it'll cut your onions. Ideally, just do half an onion at a time because if it's too big, it'll be hard to snap shut. My biggest complaint is that, although not difficult, this product is annoying to clean. When you chop the onions, bits can get stuck between the groves of the grid on the top white lid. Although the onion chopper comes with a little claw-like scraper that helps you get into the groves to clean in between the gird, the time you spent cleaning out weighs the time you save in the chopping. Overall, it's not a very effective tool if you are looking to save time.

another must have in my kitchen

The Progressive Onion Chopper is another MUST HAVE in my kitchen. I should start buying these for all newly married couples. What a great addition to a wedding gift this item would be. This chopper has two blades providing two different sizes. I typically use the larger one, but when I need to hide onions in food for my young children to eat I use the smaller one. I use my Progressive Onion Chopper for chopping onions, tomatoes, and any other vegetables I can think of. I also use it for apples. I do not like it as much for soft fruits and vegetables, but it does work. I use it for tomatoes often so it does work. I do have to first slice my fruit of vegetable. I wish there was a way for it to do it all in one, but I guess that would not work. The measuring lines on the side of the bottom container is good. I rarely use that feature though because the more chopped vegetables in my food the better. It is easy to clean. It comes with a blade that slides between the slats to get pieces out before popping it in the dishwasher after disassembling.

It's kind of a pain to clean up.

I received a Progressive Onion Chopper for Christmas one year and while I think the idea is probably awesome, the fact is, I do not eat onions. Not raw, not cooked, not ever. So, I've had very little chances to actually use this product, and never for onions. However, I figured that the main concept should translate to other food items. It worked okay on carrots, though I felt that it took a lot of pressure to press them through the grates to cut them up. I was also making toppings for do-it-yourself chef salads awhile back and decided that this would be the thing to dice the cuts of ham and turkey into squares. It did work, for the most part, I did have a few squished pieces in the end, but it just was not easy and in the end, the thing took more time to clean up than I would have spent just dicing the meat up by hand. So, maybe this works amazingly well for onions, but if you are considering purchasing this tool and think it will be very easy to use for other items, then you might want to rethink your decision.

I have had one of these for years and my husband and I love it.  We use it all the time and it is one of the best things we have ever bought.  It works great all the time and I would recommend this to everyone.

A gadget that actually works? Who knew!

I bought this **Progressive Onion Chopper** gadget on a whim, and on a discount.  I actually bought it for my mom but she already had something better, so I kept it and finally just used it this weekend!  It worked great and saved me about 10 minutes of chopping onions. The onion chopper is a very simple gadge that consists of a tupperware base that collects the diced onions, a grid shaped blade that dices the onions and a lid that is used to push the onions through the blades.  Let's examine each of these. **The Base is quite large and holds an entire chopped onion.**  You could probably collect more than 1 chopped onion, but I think it's easier to clean it out after each onion.  The base is clear so that you can see the onions coming through and see when it is time to empty it.  There's also measurements on the side so you can pay attention to how much you've chopped. **The Blades are sharp and shaped so that the onion is truly diced.**  Since the blade is a grid, the onion is chopped into little squares.  The onions were the perect size for my enchiladas and the perfect size for most meals you would put them in.  I used to have to chop and chop and rechop my onions in order to get  them like this!  Now I can do it all with one push. **The Lid is strong and helps you push the onion through.**  The lid isn't bendy which makes it real easy to push through. The only difficulty is if you put a onion piece that is too large.  It calls for you to cut an onion in half and put half in there, but I found even that was a little bit too hard to push through so the next time I put a quarter onion in and it was a lot easier.  Even though you have to cut it in quarters, it still saves loads of time. **You end up with a lot more onion this way!**  When I chop onions by hand, I usually end up with not much onion in the end because I end up either getting tired and saying "that's enough" or throwing out chunks at the end.  With this, every piece of onion turns into a perfectly diced piece.  **It cleans easy too!**  When I was done with it, the blade layer and lid come off so each part can be cleaned separately.  Some pieces may get stuck in the blade, but that only took a minute with the little fork thing that comes with it.  Other than that, you just rinse it out and it's good as new. **On the downside, it's not very versatile.**  I've seen others that have different size blades and different types of cutting things.  I can use this to cut various items up if I want them diced, however there is only the one blade so I can only cut things one way.  To me, this is still plenty as I'm not an expert cook.  But if you want more versatility, you might want to try other options.

The onion chopper broke soon after I purchased it.

I was very disappointed in the onion chopper.  I was really wanting this to be a good thing because I hate to chop onions.  Mine broke withing a few months of buying it.  A friend's broke also.  BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!  I would not buy another one.

Poorly made and difficult to clean

This product is very inexpensive, and thought it works well the first few times you use it, it is so not worth the trip to the store to pick it up.  It is difficult to get clean and even once you have cleaned it, you never get the smell of onions off the device.
