motor issues, power incline failed, power incline does not show %, needs wider belt surface for walking, no fan

I am a firm believer in walking at least an hour a day (OK- less if I absolutely don't have time, but the incline is UP for the whole walk then!) My Proform worked wonderful for the first few months, but then I noticed an issue with the motor suddenly switching from smooth to sluggish and jerking back and forth from there to fast and slow again. If I kept the speed down- at around 4 mph- then it would usually come out of it, but if I tried to speed up past that, it would start again. Then this past winter my power incline just gave out! It would drop me instead of lifting as it usually did. Granted I weigh 150 lbs, but that shouldn't be a strain for this machine! One time I raised it before getting on the treadmill and it "overextended" and then wouldn't come back down. Thankfully my husband is very gifted in the repair department and was able to fix the problem- in fact he made it better than the original since he put a stop on it that prevents it from being able to "overextend". I know in this day and age, I have probably put way more miles on it than should be expected since nothing seems built to last. I've just been surprised that it quit performing at the level it should have so quickly and with a name like Proform! Overall, I have been pleased, but only because my handyman husband was able to fix the quirks that have come up rather frequently along the way. If I didn't have him, this would not have made it past about 1 and 1/2 years of daily use (with summers off since I usually walk outdoors in the nicer weather with daylight in the early morning hours!)
