I have started putting Profoot Toe Beds in all my shoes. Although the style has changed from the original material to a gel, (and there are places online where you can still find the original if you prefer) they still take a lot of pressure off the ball of the foot and they also cradle the bottom of the toes unlike a lot of cushions that only cover the ball of the foot. They're easy to find online and I find they really make all my shoes more comfortable, especially since I do a lot of walking on concrete streets.
