This is one of the best masks I've ever used. I wish I could just purchase it at regular stores, if they would I'd be buying it more often. I love this mask because it helps me with my acne-prone skin. Everytime I use it it makes my skin feel so fresh, it tightens more pores and it really does help my skin feel more refined. I have to use it about 3 times a week for my face to see a difference. One of the things I like the most is that it really does control my breakouts, it dries the pimples overnight and it helps my skin look more clear. The scars even seem to get lighter. The second aspect about this mask I love, is that it makes my skin feel smoother.

I fell into the Proactiv trap.  Yes, it does work but that's not because it's special.  It's because it contains the same acne fighting ingredients as all the other drugstore products.  In fact, it contains a smaller percentage of the ingredients than the drugstore products do.  So if you have extremely sensitive skin, then Proactiv would be good for you.  But 99% of us don't and so you're better off spending half the amount at the drugstore.

I was out shopping for my beauty supplies just last week and noticed a bottle of Mud Mask that I used to purchase, the product is well enough, but.... after trying Proactive's Mask Treatment well it put it to shame. I never have bought it though. It always came as a gift with purchase. So I would really love to purchase this product in a much larger economy size. Also, the smell is very pleasant. My skin gets very firm and stays that way for a long while afterwards. I recomend leaving it on for a little longer past the drying point, as to let the medication kick-in. The medication in it does NOT overdry your skin. Another tip is to do your neckline, you will thank me.

Oh also, use a very hot or warm rag to rehydrate the dried treatment mask so that it wipes off much nicer. Enjoy!

I started getting acne right when I started high school. I thought it was just part of life at first and that it would just eventually go away on its own. I was totally wrong! I started to use over the counter medications such as Clearasil and Neutrogenia. None of them worked. Then I tried a more expensive product from Avon and that still didnt work. i love the proactive refining mask. when my face starts to break out i just use the mask and it dries it all up. i dont get achne real bad excpet duing that time of month andi had it. there use to be nothing that i could do about it till i decoved proacitvie refining mask and it works wornders. i will never use any other treatment. i had tried others and i never got any where. sometimes the other treatments made my face break out evn more. it was so fustrating but now i dont worry ive got proactive. proactive is the best stuff ever made. i would recomend to any one that has zit problems to get proactive dont waste your money and time with theother stuff.

i had seen so many comercials on tv for Pro Active and i figured what the heck. i've tryed many different acne products before but they just didnt seem to  get rid of my acne. So i order Pro Active and used the three clensers and the refining mask. it seemed to clean my skin very well. i used it for about a week and i began to notice that my skin had started to break out even more then it was when i started. And then my skin started to get very oily. so i stopped using the cleaners, but kept using the refining mask, because that seemed to still be cleaning my skin... and after about two weeks my skin became clear and free of acne. As the commercial says you will see clearer skin, i did but it took about a month, and me going through rough spots, having the oily skin, but in the end my skin was clear and free of acne. I wouldnt recomend this product package, but i would recomend the refining mask by itself. :)

I initially ordered the full Proactive kit a few years ago after a rough bout with some skin issues.  After seeing it in the infomercial, with the refining mask included as a bonus, I thought it was worth a try.  It arrived quickly and I was anxious to give it a try.  I used the full system for about a year and it seemed to work well and clear up my skin.  The refining mask, however, was my favorite part of the kit.  I used it mainly at night on my problem areas and it worked quickly, often even overnight!  I don't know if it worked in cooperation with the rest of the Proactive system, or on its own, but I considered it successful.  I would definitely consider ordering just the refinining mask on its own without the rest of the kit (that did a number on my bath towels by getting bleach-like spots on them).  The mask worked really well, I saw results and it was easy to put on right before bed.

I never had acne in my life until the last 3 or 4 years. Sometimes it goes away completely but sometimes it's really bad and stays that way for months. It's all hormonal for me. I have tried everything from lasers to peels to masks and facials. Lots of things seem to help a little but nothing gets rid of it totally. I was desperate and I saw all the Proactive commercials so I decided to try it. You see all these before and after pictures and it's hard to say no. Well, I think Proactive would probably work for someone with mild or non-hormonal type acne but it never took mine totally away. I will say however that the mask is very good at shrinking larger break-outs and it doesn't dry it all out and make it look worse for having treated it like some treatments do. I would say it's just as good as any of the sulfur based masks you buy at the spa but it is a lot less expensive. Don't expect a miracle but if you are looking for a good reasonably priced mask this one is pretty good.

Great for spot treatments!

The refining mask comes free when you get the standard package from Proactiv.  I saw or read somewhere that the refining mask works as a good spot-treatment for those blemishes that won't go away.  I tried it once on one of the really "deep" kind you can get sometimes -- and within two or three days, the pimple was gone - it never amounted to anything!!  I even make my husband use it.  I don't necessarily LOVE it for the actual mask - it definitely has a sulfur smell to it - but it is in my arsenal for treating "hot spots" that come up.  I have never tried it as a mask to wear every few days, as is recommended, so I can't speak to that at all.

The ProActiv Solution Refining Mask is not a bad product however if you are looking for dramatic results, this is not the right product for you. I find that toothpaste does a better job at spot treating a problem area, the mask just dries out the skin around the problem area. Be careful when you wash the mask off your face as it WILL bleach the color out of your towels, as does the facial cleanser. The sulfur smell is quiet evident, in the morning you will want to wash your face with a fairly strong scented soap or facial cleanser. The recommended amount is a dime size, however if you follow that the solution only lasts about two weeks. Frankly, I would not pay for it. Luckily for me it came free in my 30 day order. It may seem that I have nothing but negative things to say about this product, but I have yet to see the positive aspects. I could only see someone wanting to purchase this product for the mere fact that it I name brand, not that they want I to actually work.

I bought the entire proactive skin care line but this was by far my favorite product. The mask made my skin feel clean and it did a great job at getting rid of acne. I used it most often as a spot treatment.  I would put it on at night and by the next day the spot would be significantly reduced in size.

It does dry out your skin if you use it too often.  I think (don't quote me on this) that it is recommended to use once every few days or once a week.  I never did my entire face more than every couple of days but occassionally I would use the spot treatment for several days in a row. This could easily result in overdrying my skin if I wasn't careful. 

The main downside to this product is that it is more expensive than most spot treatments and you cannot buy it in stores. It is a hassle to have to order something instead of running to the store and picking it up.  Even though it costs more than other similar products, I think it is a good product and overall a good buy.

i am reviewing the Proactiv sulfur based face mask. it is absolutelywonderful. it dries up my pimples in a few days.  i think this is the best i have ever used and will not be without it. i don't find that it dries my skin surrounding the pimple too much either. i have some oilyness in my forehead and the rest of my skin tends to be normal to dry at times. the smell is not that bad and you do get used to it. i use the mask as a spot treatment and rarely use it as a full face mask. it really seems to reduce the swelling overnight since i mostly get the really painful large bumps and some whiteheads too. the whole proactiv three piece system didnt work too well for me but this product is a real winner! it is a little pricey, but a very little goes a long way and a tube of it lasts me a couple of months.;one tip: if you let it dry completely when you use it as a spot treatment , then it won't rub off on your pillow. you must try this if you suffer from acne!

I struggled with mild acne on my face in my youth, but then it subsided until after college. At this time (for no apparent reason) I began to break out on my face again-- including my cheeks, which had never been an issue in the past. Luckily my younger sister (seven years my junior) was still in high school and my mother had purchased Proactiv-- including the refining mask.

In my experience, not only did it help to clear acne overnight when used in conjunction with the Proactiv 3-step system, but it also helped my skin to heal more quickly if I had been picking at it.

This is by no means a miracle cure, but if I feel as though there is a blemish under my skin and put this on for a night or two, more often than not it will not become a problem! After using it on my entire face for a few nights-- it dried my skin up a bit too much. A little goes a long way with it and just using it as a spot treatment has worked best for me.

           The Proactiv refining mask is my favourite skin care product. It's easy to use, it's fast and most importantly it works for all skin types. This product has changed my life.
