Proactiv Solution 3 Step System Kit Review

I have had acne for years.  Ever since I was about in fifth grade.  I have tried everything out there from cleansers to soaps to pure rubbing alcohol.  It does not help that my face is extremely oily either.  So when my mom found and bought me Proactiv several years ago, I was thrilled with the idea of finally having clear skin.  No more being called pizza face for me.  Boy was I wrong.

I got the kit in the mail and my mother was billed $40 for it.  It was a 3 month kit and another kit would be shipped out before this one ran out, in approzimately three months.  It contained the Proactiv face cleanser, the Proactiv face astringent, and the Proactiv face moisturizer. 

I used the kit religiously for several months.  I knew that it would take a while for my skin to repair itself so I was not expecting a miracle overnight.  I used all three products day and night, and always made sure to rinse my face well and wait for the astringent to dry before applying the moisturizer.  But by the forth month, I was devastated.  My skin still looked awful.  I had pimples all over and it did not seem to me like they were diminishing.  Maybe I was being to hard on myself, so I decided to stick it out a little longer.  I continued with the Proactiv solution for a few more months.  By this time I was done with my first kit, and halfway through my second kit.  My third kit came and my skin was stll looking awful.  I decided then that it was not for me.

I will say that the cleanser did feel good on my skin and it always rinsed clean.  The astringent made my skin feel tight too. My skin did feel soft and smooth after using it.   I did not care for the moisturizer at all.  I felt it left my skin oily.  I loved the mask that came with my first shipment.  It was easy to apply and felt good on my skin, especially after a long hard day.  It dried and my pores felt like they were tightening.  It also rinsed clean. 

I do think that this kit was way to expensive.  Paying $40 is quite a bit, and I would not have minded paying that much if it really worked.  But since it did not work I found it to a a huge rip off.
