I placed an order with Pro Flowers for a Mother's Day gift consisting of a flowering plant, basket container, a box of chocolates, and a mylar balloon.

This was delivered as I was informed it would be, but it was left on my mothers front porch while she was not at home.  She seldom uses the front porch which is up off the ground level, and the package was left in an obscure area where she did not see it.  There was no notice left on the door or any notification that a package had been delivered.  I checked on the 2nd day, the day before Mother's Day, to see if my mother had gotten any gifts yet; not wanting to let her know I had ordered for her, as it was supposed to be a surprise.  When she said she had only received a card from one of my brothers, I knew she had not received the package.

I checked into the situation and discovered what had happened, and that it had been delivered on Thursday evening; this was Saturday.  I asked her to look again on the front porch, and finally she saw the package.  When she opened it, the plant was not anything like what had been portrayed online; and some of the leaves were crushed along with many broken stems.  The basket container included was very cheap.  The balloon was missing, and the chocolates were melted into a glob as she lives in Savannah, Georgia with the temperatures having been in the 90's.

I called customer service, and they offered to replace the plant with another, and they did; but of course, it was too late for Mother's Day.  The plant was very small, and not worth its cost.  They did credit me for the balloon and the candy, but would not credit back the plant.

Another negative experience I had with this company was that they had a pink banner on the landing page of the site and on the consequent product listings stating free shipping for Mother's Day if the order was placed before May 11, which mine was.  When I navigated to the billing area to pay, the "free shipping" link  took me to another website where I was required to sign up for a "trial membership" of supposed free shipping on any online purchases with the stipulation that only a maximum of $10.00 per order would be eligible for rebate.  If I do not want to continue this membership and have my credit card charged the monthly fee, I now must remember to call and cancel the membership, along with sending them a written request with proof of purchase for the $10.00 rebate that was portrayed by Pro Flowers as "free shipping".  Nothing at all was said on the Pro Flowers site about this, it just said "free shipping" for all orders placed by the required date.

I was very unhappy with the merchandise, the delivery method, the misleading advertising both in photos of the plants/flowers, the poor quality for the price, the method of shipping with leaving chocolate unprotected in very hot weather, and the misleading information leading the customer to believe he/she would be automatically receiving free shipping as specified.
