7 day cruise
Sapphire Princess/Mexican Riviera
We took this trip in April 2006. I am used to the Carribean being warm in April. The first 2 days on this cruise were very cold. So cold that no one was out on the deck. About late afternoon on the 2nd day, we finally got south enough for it to warm up and it was great until we headed back. The last day was cold again. I loved the Mexican destinations, but I'm not sure if I would cruise this itinerary again because of the cold days. To me a vacation should be warm and sunny!
We stopped in Puerta Vallarta first. This was a great touristy port to walk around and shop. We were at the port for a sufficient amount of time. Next was Mazatlan. This is a very poor city. We had pre-arranged for a horse back adventure and loved it. Time spent at this port was the majority of the day. The last port was Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately, we were only at this port for half the day and everyone wished it was a whole day. It is beautiful there. We paid for a water taxi out to view the rock formations and spend time on Lover's Beach. Breathtaking! I highly recommend this adventure.
The ship was beautiful and large. We frequented the buffett and are not so much into the formal dining. We had better buffett food on our other cruise on a different cruiseline but the food on the Sapphire wasn't bad.
We loved the games played while onboard and we also loved the nightlife. We danced most every night somewhere.
There was a nice mix of young and old on this cruise. It is not a party cruise nor is it a boring cruise.
If you don't mind a few days of cold, this is a great cruise.
