Warning to Pregnant and/or Special Needs Passengers

The information in your cruise planning book is incorrect.  Princess will let you book and pay for your trip but will refuse to let you board the ship later.

Although we informed Princess staff at the time of booking about a 26 week pregnancy; we were told one month prior to passage that we would be unable to board the ship because of policy changes.  We were told verbal agreements would not be honored nor would they let us sail on an earlier date.  Staff said we were responsible for periodically checking their policies to make sure we would be allowed to board the ship.

Princess staff never admitted to the written discrepencies between the planning book and boarding pass and continued to say that it was "impossible" for them to be at fault.  No one seemed concerned about the inconvience this caused our family regarding all the details involved in planning to be away from home for seven days.

We were lucky because I read the fine print and found the discrepancy one month early.  If not; we could have been stuck in Florida and not allowed boarding at the time of sail!

In response to Celeste's comment from Oct 1, 2007 at 10:07AM:

Celeste, My husband and I could not agree with you anymore! We have been on 7 cruises with "Princess" and needless to say we have alway's been extremely pleased! We are going on the Caribbean Princess this coming Feb.!(this will be our 4th time on that ship) We have never been on any of their smaller ships . . . What was the "Royal" like? In comparision with the Caribbean which ship did you enjoy the most? Daly-Cruisers

My husband and I have been on 7 cruises, All with "Princess!" We book a cruise every year alway's in Feb. and always with "Princess" We are not the easiest people to please, especially when spending the kind of money one spends while cruising . . . I have to say it's worth every dime; We "ALWAYS" have a wonderful time!

I am shocked at the type of service you received from Princess. We have been on 3 Princess cruises, 2 on the Caribbean Princess(3000+ passengers) and one on the Royal Princess (700 passengers) and received the same excellence in service on all cruises. From the person who answers the phone to all types of people on the cruise itself, we have never encountered one rude person. The rooms are spotless, food is excellent, entertainment is what you would expect on a cruise ship. Obviously top-end acts will lose a lot of money by giving up big arenas and you won't find them there; that being said, entertainment at this caliber was very good. Of special note is the attention to my dietary restrictions while on board. Night after night I was able to pick out anything on the menu for the following night and the chef would make it lactose-free, so I never felt as though I missed out on anything.

There is a nice mix of ages and we have never encountered abnoxious drunk partiers who make it difficult to relax and rest. Any daytime issues with underage drinkers were handled quickly and discreetly. We had none of the party issues that you hear about on other cruiselines.

We met a couple who are on their 96th cruise with them so it can't be too bad! We book with them once a year and have no reason to look elsewhere as it is always a great vacation. I'm sure Princess would want to know about an employee who was as rude as the person that the pregnant women dealt with.

I'm really sorry to hear about that. It's good that you shared the info though.
