Prince Lionheart Fireplace Guard Review

The Fireplace Guard by Prince Lionheart is a safety product that is designed to protect children from injuring themselves on sharp edges.  The basic package contains five 18" foam pieces and two foam corner pieces and retails for less than $30. 

I'm not certain why the company markets the product as a Fireplace Guard when the box states that it can also be used on tables, counters, and more.  In fact, I purchased this product to use on my end tables and a protruding wall corner by my front door, not for my fireplace.

Each 18" foam piece is designed to fit snugly on tables, counters, fireplaces, and more.  There is an adhesive strip on the inner area of the foam piece that attaches to a clean wall.  Obviously, the corner pieces are meant to be used on corners.  

The reason why I have two foam pieces attached to the wall corner by my front door is because a little boy that I occasionally babysit, tripped and hit his head right on the corner of the wall.  He received a huge goose egg on his forehead and I received permanent nightmares.  Before his fall, I didn't realize how many hidden accidents were just waiting to happen throughout my home.  It gives me great comfort knowing that the Prince Lionheart Fireplace Guard, placed strategically throughout my house, can prevent these type of accidents from happening again.   

The only flaw that I have seen, is that the foam piece comes off the wall in a few small areas, hence my three-star review.  I occasionally have to re-stick it to the wall.  Also, the pieces on the end table can easily be taken off by the children.  The box states that the foam pieces are removable and reusable so I assume that is the reason why they tend to come off easily.  If someone wants the foam to stick better, I guess that they might want to consider using a heavy adhesive such as glue. 

Each foam piece is fire-retardant, non-toxic, and latex-free, which I would expect for a product made with small children in mind. 

Overall, I am happy using this product in spite of it occasionally becoming detached from the wall.  Although, I may be fortunate because my children leave it alone and do not pry it off.  For the time being, the Prince Lionheart Fireplace Guard protects my children and puts my mind at ease.  Even at the pricey cost, it's worth it to me.
