Sounds too good to be true, but that's exactly why I love using Priceline.com.
How it Works
Priceline lets you "name your own price" on hotels, rental cars and flights. If your bid is accepted when you make it (takes only a minute or so to...
Most HelpfulI enjoy using travel websites to book my own travel. My friend told me about the "Name your own price" feature on Priceline and I decided to check it out. I had an upcoming trip to plan and decided to try to get a 4-star hotel for $100. I was successful in "naming my own price" but the hotel I...
review »As I have talked about in some of my other reviews, I am a former airline employee (six years) for a major airline. These are just some of my opinions of customer service and some of the things that may go wrong from a former airline employee's point of view.
When it comes to Priceline, and this is honestly unbiased, this was the WORST company to deal with when it came to trying to reroute passengers after a flight cancellation.
I worked at an outstation which means that there's no connecting flights going through our airport. We were either a destination or starting point of travel. When you...
review »I am headed to the big launch party for Viewpoints in Chicago. I usually keep my online stuff online, but I really thought this would be fun. Meet some of my friends that I know cyberally.
I would, of course, need a room. I doubt sleeping on the streets would be any fun. I don't even like to camp.
I did a quick search on Chicago motels. Hum. That got me $300 price tags per night. My house payment is $340 a month. There is something wrong with this picture. OK. This is the South. I got a great deal on my house. But, still . . . $300 to sleep in a bed for one night strikes me as over the top several...
review »I admit when I was traveling on my own and I didn't care about time, but I cared about the costs, make a offer on Priceline usually got me where I wanted to be for about the price that I wanted to pay. I have used Priceline for airfare, hotels, and car rental reservations and find that normally my results are hit or miss for satisfaction.
I am most satisfied with Priceline's make an offer on hotels option, I can designate a specific star rating and area where I want to stay. I have stayed in New York, DC and San Francisco at places like the Westin, Marriott and Hyatt for at times under 50.00...
review »I used Priceline recently to book a hotel room for a single overnight stay after a concert I was attending in Oklahoma City. It worked great. No hassle whatsoever. Good rates. The site was easy to use. I will totally be using it again in the future.
I loved the different sorting features on the site for hotels. Some were pretty standard. I could sort by price. I could sort by quality, etc. But the one that really was helpful was that the site showed several popular sites in the city that you might want to be close to, and would sort the hotels by distance from that attraction. ...
review »Quick synopisis:
I found online air specials for the same time/days/airport for $215. I put in a bid for 4 air tickets for $175 on Priceline. Hey $40 dollars per ticket is $40!! I put in all the neccessary info needed to make a bid. I hit "bid now" button and got redirected back to the page asking for my password. I filled in the password again, hit "bid now' and again got redirected to the info page asking for my password. I filled out the password again, hit "bid now" and got redirected to the same info page asking me for my 3 digit code on the back of my credit card. Hit "bid now" and it...
review »Lately I had a very bad experience with priceline.com. I bid on hotels in some area I am going to for vacation, unfortunately the result of my bid turns out to be a hotel which is not listed on the website within that certain area. When I call their custom service to try to make some change, they actually tell me a shocking news that the list on their website is a just sample list, they actually have their own list of hotels which no customer can see. If you bid on it, you may get a hotel you never see on their website, or even a crappy one which doesn't meet the requirement from your bid. As...
review »I used Priceline to book a hotel room for my parents anniversary party. I knew the dates were not going to change and that we would need a nice hotel room. We chose the highest star rating in that area and the room rates were listed as starting at $109 per night for basic room. We offered $65/night for 2 queen bed suite since it would be our first time traveling with our 2 yr old son. We got it and actually talked to the hotel after we booked it and they upgraded us to a king two room suite to ease the sleeping arrangements with our son! It was perfect. As long as you are certain you are going...
review »I have used Priceline several times. I have found the prices to be suprisingly good. If you are a little flexable this would probably work for you. I have had a few problems but for the most part things have gone well. I do have a a few concerns. 1st, my wife are avid nonsmokers. However every room we have won a bid on has beem a smoking room. This can be rectified by then calling the hotel to get this changed. I have never had a hotel not be able to make this switch. It's just an extra step that should not be.
Also, I do not suggest you allow them to make plane reservations unless you like flying...
review »If you don't have to be there at a certain time....Priceline is perfect. The only drawback is you don't get to chose the airline or the flight! You do, however, get to chose the date and the airport, which to me are the two most important factors.
My husband, recently, had to fly back to Illinois from Alabama, rather quickly. His father was having open heart surgery. I went to the major airline websites and they wanted approximately $500-800+ for this round trip ticket plus he needed to rent the car for the week! I told hubby that it was just out of our price range as we are planning a...
review »I have a sister that is a travel agent. She found me some great deals to Fort Worth/Dallas, TX in May 2009. I almost jumped on them BUT I ended up doing my own research and found a package on Priceline.com that was $200 dollars LESS than the cheapest package my own sister could offer me. I paid $420 for round trip airfair leaving on a friday morning and returning monday afternoon, which included 4 nights at Crown Plaza Park Central. I was able to research the area & all activities and other transportation info. I was VERY satisfied with the hotel, the flight and most of all the area.......
