Like saving a fortune without compromising on quality?
Sounds too good to be true, but that's exactly why I love using Priceline.com.

How it Works
Priceline lets you "name your own price" on hotels, rental cars and flights.   If your bid is accepted when you make it (takes only a minute or so to find out) then your credit card will be charged, and, if you've done your homework, you have yourself a bargain.

When to Avoid It
Do NOT use Priceline for flights unless you really don't care about your arrival or departure time, how many legs you'll fly, or your route.   I do not purchasing flights this way, as you can get some pretty bad surprises.   Perhaps students who are cash-poor and have lots of free time won't mind what they get.   But I'd advise steering clear of flights;  air travel is tricky enough, people!

When to Use It!
If you love Deeply Discounted Luxury Hotels and Cheap Rental Cars, this is the site for you!   I personally only bid on 4-star hotels, offering just over half the best posted rate.   (Check local rates on Expedia.com or Travelocity.com before you bid).   Consequently, I have stayed in some of the nicest hotels in this country, at just over half price.   The caveat?  More space!  I often get the handicap access room, which rarely books, and which is even larger than the normal rooms!

Same formula applies for rental cars.  Check the local rates at the location where you want to pick up.  Then bid 60% of that rate, and Voila - you will get a great rate on a rental car, in the size you choose!

The Only Catch
The only catch to all these savings is that you have to be SURE you're taking your trip.   Your credit card is billed when your offer is accepted.    Sometimes you can make changes for a fee.

Get Yourself a Bargain!
Try my formula and you will be amazed!   Time to book a four-star weekend, don't you think?

The Bottom Line:   Libby Loves It!

We always always go to Priceline before we make a reservation at a hotel. The only catch is a biggie but the savings are amazing. I agree. jo
