I've tried a few microwave popcorn poppers that were even less expensive and they always ended up cracking after a few weeks of daily use. (I like my popcorn, OK?) I hesitated to try the Presto Microwave popcorn popper because of the paper insert (the "concentrator") that you place in the bottom. It seemed like just another thing that would make the process more complicated than it needs to be. I mean, microwave popcorn in the pre-filled bags is so easy! Except for the sodium and chemicals involved. Anyway, I finally bought this when a friend told me that her sister loves hers. I have been pleasantly surprised! The first few times you use it most of the kernels pop, which is very satisfying for some reason. If you don't use salt or oil you can re-use the concentrator many times, although I find that I don't get as many uses from it as the reviewers on another website seem to. I probably replace the concentrator after every 10 uses. I have used it daily for about four months and I wash it in the dishwasher and it is holding up very well!
