Presto Cool Touch Griddle Review

I got the Presto Cool Touch electric griddle a few years ago as a Christmas gift. I really love it and it is a great alternative to a frying pan sprayed with non-stick spray.

The griddle is made of non-stick material, not coated with a thin coat of non-stick. I wouldn't suggest it, but on occasion, I have used a metal spatula on it and it's been none worse for the wear.

The surface is large and surrounded by a wide plastic edging. You would have to touch the actual cooking surface to get burned. You won't get burned bumping into the side. The temperature control dial plugs into the side. If you're not sure what temperature to use, there's a little pamphlet included with temperature suggestions for common foods. It heats evenly and warms quickly.

It's great for pancakes, french toast, grilled cheese, bacon and burgers. It's big enough to cook for a family and not have to eat the pancakes in shifts. It's good for bacon because you can have a large surface with a uniform temperature. You can set the temp low enough so the bacon is just cooking and not splattering piping-hot grease all over the place. And the grease slides off into a slide-out drip tray.

With the temperature dial unplugged, it's dishwasher-safe. I've never had to put mine in the dishwasher. It cleans up really easily in the sink.

The surface has a slight slant to it allowing for drippings to be caught in the slide-out drip tray. It's helpful for meats, but if you want to cook something runnier like scrambled eggs on it, they immediately try to run off the griddle into the drip tray. That doesn't happen with thicker batters though.

I enjoy mine. The clean-up is easy and it is convenient.
