Presto 6-Quart Slow Cooker

2

When I saw this slow cooker in the store, I thought it would be the perfect answer to eliminating a few small appliances. The price was good also, so I bought it and took it home. The cord is long enough and attaches with a magnetic action and stays connected when being used. The lid fit well on the top. The basket is a very lightweight metal that I felt could have been made a little stronger. When I had a full basket of food in there to deep fry, it didn't feel too secure. I did not like the detachable basket handle. I found it difficult to keep attached to the basket when I was lifting the basket out of the slow cooker. The outside container of the slow cooker worked well for me. It was large enough without being too large to do most of the things I needed done. I found the legs of the slow cooker to be a little too slippery for my taste. To gain added stability when using this slow cooker, I put a hot pad underneath it. I did not like using it as a slow cooker because I felt the material of the slow cooker was just too thin. It did clean easy. The temperature dial worked well.

went looking for an inexpensive deep fryer since i have had a couple expensive ones and threw them out.  i saw this multicooker and decided to give it a try.  is a great deep fryer and a great slow cooker.  you can brown the meat for your stew then slow cook it in the same pan.  i've also used it when i just don't want to get the stove dirty for quick jobs.  this pot does everything and does it well.  my other slow cookers are now in the basement collecting dust.

Disappointed

My first Presto lasted almost ten years before the non-stick finish started to come off so I bought a new one last year.  This one only lasted a year, I used it last week to make hot spiced cider and when I washed it, the non-stick finish came off in big shreds.  I am afraid to use it now and hope I can recycle the metal.  I don't think I will purchase another because of this defect.  I really liked my original and am very disappointed with the newer version.

Incredably versatile

The Presto 6 quart crock pot does all that a crock pot should and so much more. In addition to slow simmering soups and stews, it can be used to slow cook meats to the fall-apart tender stage. It is great for making pulled pork for barbeque sandwiches. In the wintertime it is great to throw some vegetables, stock and meat in early in the day and have the slow cooker prepare your supper while you are busy doing other things. You come home to the great smell of a home cooked meal with out all the preparation time and close monitoring. The lift out basket is a nice feature as well. If you like to fry foods, the deep, six quart capacity makes this appliance the perfect vessel to prepare chicken, onion rings, french fries or even doughnuts. That is what is really great about this cooking pot. It can replace several different kinds of appliances all at once. It is very well made, and should last quite a number of years.

I own three different crock pots and I tend to use this one for allot of the smaller portion crock cooking's.  Doesn't take up the entire counter and there are times during the cold dreary winter months when it barely makes it off of the counter top (of course except to get washed and returned to the spot).  I have not made a dish in this crock pot that we have not fully enjoyed.  It cooks evenly and the three different heat settings appear true to temperature.  While mine is about 8 years old I still find that it cooks just like the day I took it out of the box.  The outside of the crock pot is still very bright and shiny and does not look worn or abused and cleans up very well.  The top upper rim is the only part of the outer pot that is beginning to show some real use whereby there are a couple of stains from drippings that are surfacing now (I believe from the top finish being scrubbed off from cleanings).  But the pot still cooks up awesome dishes.  My kids (and husband too) are always excited when they come home after a long day at work or school to see the crock pot on the counter - and can tell by the smell (most of the time) what they are going to have for dinner that evening.  They always know their bellies are going to be filled with some good grub and that mom is not going to be in the kitchen slaving over the hot stove for dinner tonight!!!!!

all right but too small

This product is a nice addition to any kitchen. The only problem with it was that it was too small. Although it says its six quarts it can only really hold about three quarts. Therefore it limited what i could cook. So i recommend buying at least an eight quart. Otherwise the product is essential. I've used it to make things from roast to a simple stew. It has a great heat up time and is a great time-saver. Also i think its important to mention that this was an upgrade from a previous pressure cooker that i had for about 10 years. This one is much safer. My old one got me nervous some times about it not properly locking this one on the other hand is very secure. On a final note i do recommend a presto no matter what size you choose. Also for an average kitchen i recommend that you go with at least an 8 quart. Especially if you plan on cooking beans which require allot of extra space because they froth allot causing the cooker to be blocked.
