Premonition  —

I've never been a huge fan of Sandra Bullock. Speed 1 and 2 were pretty good and Miss Congeniality made me wanna puke. So, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out. Now after watching it, I regret wasting my precious life minutes on Premonition.

Plot: Linda Hanson awakes to learn that her husband has just been in a fatal car accident. The following morning she wakes up to see that her husband is in bed with her, alive and well. The following days continue on this pattern up until the actual day of his death.

As you can see, the plot itself is a bit confusing to even read. Sadly, I found myself confused throughout the whole movie. Even the ending left me with questions. The acting was average at best and it seems like Sandra Bullock is losing her edge as some of the other bigger stars are now (Willis, Clooney, in opinion at least). Maybe it's the lack of directing that held her back but something just didn't feel right. Julian McMahon played the dead/alive husband. His acting was also average but better than Bullocks in some ways. I also felt that some of the images were a little too disturbing, the most of which was when Linda's (Bullock) daughter, who's only about 8, runs full speed through a plate glass sliding door. The scars look horrific and the whole thing just didn't seem necessary. Not only that, the whole incident created more than a few plot holes that would drive even the most mindless movie goer out of their mind. That is, of course, if they can actually keep up with the storyline and somehow manage not to get confused.

I was going to say the only good thing about this movie is that the storyline is original. Unfortunately, after doing some research, I found an Italian made movie from 1987 called Julia and Julia, which has a very similar storyline. Sadly, that movie is just as bad, if not worse. So really, even with my amazing love for all movies, I'm having a hard time finding any pros for this one. The simple fact that Sandra Bullock is in Premonition is the only one I can think of.

Overall, this movie isn't worth wasting your time on unless you really wanna be confused and disturbed for 2 straight hours. Of course if you're like me and feel the need to see every movie, then wait the 2 weeks for Premoniton to come out on DVD and rent it.

MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for some violent content, disturbing images, thematic material and brief language)

Runtime: 1 hour 50 minutes

Year: 2007

Rating(out of 10): 2

Side Note: The PG-13 rating is not accurate at all. I wouldn't let anyone under the age of 16 see it and I'm pretty sure any kids younger than 16 won't have any interest in the film.
