When my little, itty, bitty Golden Retriever came home I thought maybe he will stay this way.  He was so small, cute and cuddly.  Boy was I wrong!!!  A few months later he's 70+ pounds and dragging me down the street!

I worked very hard to train him. In the house or the yard he responded to hand commands only.  I didn't have to say a word.  It was great!  However, when I took him out on the street for a walk, my properly trained little gentleman turned into a tugging, leash chewing mad-dog!  I tried and tried to get more control over him on the street; to no avail.

He was not going to beat...

The rescue I volunteer with and m local dog shelter USE and RECOMMEND Gentle Leaders.  I have always been impressed with ALL Premier products.  They are humane , readily available and somewhat easy to use.

The Gentle Leader does require proper fitting.  Your dog trainer, vet or vet tech, or maybe even a sales associate at the store should be able to help ensure this.  Their is a training pamphlet and DVD in most packages to help the owner and dog become accustom to the feel of something around their nose.

My service dog uses one when she's working.

NO IT'S NOT A MUZZLE.  The dogs can...

We have a chocolate lab, who is big and akward. I'm small (5'6 and 105 lbs). I refuse to let my "dog walk me" and with this system, that can't happen!  We did the puppy class, and he did great, but as he's gotten bigger (and into his "adolecence/rambunctious stage" of 6-24 months), he's getting stronger and more currious.  This keeps him by my side, and I barely have to use my forearms to walk him.  If he pulls at all, it's just a snap of the wrist and he's right by my side again. I give him treats when he comes back to my side, so he's learning to love it!   It did requiredhim getting... read full review »

Purchasing the gentle leader for my golden retriever was the best thing I ever did for her. I tried for several months to train her on a leash from the time I got her at 10 weeks. She was much stronger than me when she was just a few months old and it become impossible to leash-walk her. We have the medium size and my dog is right at the max pounds for it, about 60 lbs.

I went to the pet store to purchase a pinch collar but was discouraged from doing so by two of the employees. Instead, they recommended the gentle leader and I am so happy I took their advice. The gentle leader is better than a...

The Gentle Leader is the most awesome thing since sliced bread for your strong willed or unruly dog.  It goes around your dogs neck and nose to help control him by his head rather than chest-much like a halter does for a horse.  It is NOT a muzzle...it does not stop your dog from breathing, drinking, eating, biting, etc.  What it does do is simply turn your dogs head to the side if he tries to pull you.  It requires little strength on the part of the owner to control a 150 pound dog. It is easy to use properly and will not harm your dog, unlike a choke chain (which can cause a collapsed trachea)...

My dog is very hyper and pulls while walking, and ends up choking himself and gagging if I walk him with a traditional collar and leash.  When I use the gentle leader, he is a completely different dog.

The only downside is that he does not like wearing the gentle leader and if he has an opportunity to get a hold of it, he chews it up.  They are not cheap, so this can get quite expensive after a while.   They should consider making one out of some type of material that would be more difficult for him to destroy!

This product does require some getting used to in order to make sure it is...

My dog has used both the regular gentle leader and the gentle leader harness and they work wonders.  The normal gentle leader is better than the harness but the harness does its job.  I used to have arm pain after walks and trying to teach her not too pull never worked to well; she just way too excited about being outside.  If you order these online you can find them in colors and in between sizes too. I would recommend trying out the tweeny sizes if you have trouble with the ones sold in the pet stores.

Our Basset Hound puppy (6 months) is so difficult to walk with just a collar. This gentle leader helps her to focus on walking, not sniffing everything around her and jerking me around. The only problem is that she will sometimes stop dead in her tracks and lay down, rubbing her nose with her paw to try to get it off. She doesn't like it much, but I sure do!

The premier gentle leader is awesome!! Some peple alo know it as a 'Halti". I own a very strong Pitt Bull. I would not be able to walk her with ease if i didn't use the gentle leader. The collar goes over the dogs nose and clips around thier neck like any other collar would. If the dog starts to pull their nose and head are pulled gently to the side and back slightly. It does not hurt or harm the dog in any way. Dogs don't like this feeling and quickly learn to not pull when on walks. The only problem I ever had with it was at the beach. My dog loves to run into the waves at the ocean. I had her...

I have tried many different kinds of 'control' collars and leads to help train our Rottweiler. Prong collars cause pain and allow the dog to pull- chain collars pinch and risk hurting the dog- many of the other brands of 'no pull' halters just pinch and grip the face- there was a real need for an item like the Gentle Leader! It works just like any other collar, except that instead of pulling the neck and throat, it leads forward from the muzzle! My dog took a week or two, to get used to it, and then she simply started obeying my requests! The simple fact is that it gently leads her muzzle around... read full review »

The Premier Gentle Leader is fantastic.  My girlfriends 45 lb English Pointer, Stormy, would pull her around the neighborhood before we bought this.  Now, Angie walks with Stormy, not runs after her.  We noticed the change almost instantly.

It worked so well, that our friend bought one for her Boxer mix, with the same results.  Lucky walked calmly with it the first time.  Both dogs tried to get it off their faces until they became used to it, but it was not a major issue.

I highly recommend the Premier Gentle Leader if your dog pulls you around the neighborhood when you walk him/her.

We have been using a gentle leader for a while now and we think it is wonderful.  It took our dog a while to get used to the leader but once he did it made walking him so much easier.  The only problem I have with the gentle leader is that it doesn't really teach the dog to walk nicely on a leash unless they are wearing a leader.  My dog still pulls terrible if he is just wearing standard collar, so we are now working to try and correct this problem.

I LOVE the Premier Gentle Leader, I can't live without them. I have bought one for every one of my five dogs. I think it's the best way to teach your dogs how to walk correctly.
