Howard Schultz is the CEO of Starbucks, a gourmet coffee operation that has its roots in Seattle Washington. Before the days of Starbucks, coffee was a boring, predictable beverage. It was difficult to find anything good- tasting when you went to a restaurant. When you asked for coffee, you expected to get a cup of Maxwell House or Folgers. This is a great literary pick if you enjoy "before they were stars (or Starbucks)." The practices that Howard Schultz lists in his book are imaginative and basic. I would speculate that if these practices to business were still in use; maybe the company would not be headed out. Human Resources for the company seldom hires individuals outside of Seattle. In the book Howard talks about surrounding one's self with the best in the buisness. I feel sorry for all the current baristas that are pouring their hearts into their work...only to find out that since they are not locals they can not attain…
