We're a candle-burning family. It's not unusual for all the lights in our apartment to be off, and lots of candles to be burning. We like the soft glow. Of course, no one likes the mess of melted wax, not to mention the potentials for damage and danger.
A couple of months ago my partner got home from the mall with a bunch of large candles from Pottery Barn. PB is one of our favorite stores. They usually sell quality products and they offer good customer service. These candles, which were advertised as "burning evenly" were not cheap. Few things at PB are cheap. But spending a little extra money didn't really bother my partner, if it meant no more wax mess, no more lopsides candles, and being able to relax a bit when it came to worrying about the potential for danger from dripping wax or stray flames.
What a ripoff! These candles are the opposite of evenly burning. If anything, they've burned down in the most sloppy, unwieldy, crooked way. Considering the fact that they were specifically marketed to burn evenly, and that they cost so much money (the biggest candle, only 4" x 4" cost $14!), I'm pretty annoyed at how really bad they are. I'm also pretty shocked - it's not at all what I expect from Pottery Barn.
These are a dud - don't bother.
