Disappointing results

2

I have been suffering from melasmas for five years now. The brown spot above my upper lip is particularly troubling to me. This was recommended to me by my mother who used the original formula to treat her brown spots after being pregnant with me. She said that this was the only cream that faded all her spots. I however am very disappointed in the results I received from this cream. Instead of a lightening of spots, I feel that my melasmas got even darker in color. In reading about the hydroquinone in this cream, I discovered that in some people it actually caused the brown spots to darken. Once I saw that it was darkening my spots, I immediately ceased use. Absorption The thickness of the formula allowed it to stay on the area in which you were applying it, but it also caused it to lay on top of the skin for a very long time. It took several attempts at rubbing it in to ensure that it was absorbed. Doesn't Clog Pores This was certainly an adverse side effect for me. When I was applying this to the area above my upper lip, I got several blackheads and pimples. I believe the thickness of the formula clogged the area. I then needed to treat it with an acne medication which caused extra redness. Effectiveness Unfortunately I had a darkening of my spots along with additional breakouts at the application site.

Stops working after 3 months

I purchased Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream several years ago and had okay results. I used this cream once a day on the affected areas of my body to even my skin tone. My first impression of this cream is that it is kind of thick and it doesn't smell the greatest. This cream took some time to absorb into my skin. Initally I applied too much cream on my body and it caused clogged pores, but once I realized a little goes a long way it didn't breakout my skin too often. I used this cream for 3 months and noticed a slight change in dark spots. Because of the positive results I continued to use this product. After 6 months I didn't see too big of a change, but things were still moving in the right direction. I used this product for an entire year and sadly my best results came in the first 3 months. It seemed like this product didn't have any affect on my dark spots after 3 months. I'm guessing my skin became use to it and stopped working. I definitely would recommend this product for short term use.

When it comes to lightening creams, the more effective the better. My condition revolves around a large cafe au lait birthmark on one half of my face. Its slightly darker than my normal skin tone, and benefits largely from exfoliation and hydroquinone application. What I noticed is after 3 months of daily use of a product containing hydroquinone, the birthmark lightens up by 50%. At first I was hopeful about this product, but realized that the jar container is not effective enough to keep the delicate ingredient hydroquinone in tact. I would suggest using products with a tube applicator, which actually preserve the ingredients much better. After using this product for three months, I did not see any changes in my skin tone. The formula turned out to be very waxy in texture, and did not feel pleasant to apply. I had to rub it on and spread it all over to eliminate the white residue left over. Not effective and not worth it as a skin lightening product.

Porcelana fades only a bit of the dark spots

First I wasn't crazy about the scent. Second I didn't think the lightening was remarkable, but then again I don't have a serious problem with dark spots. I loved the feel on my face, it was moisturizing and with the added benefit of slight skin lightening I was satisfied. I wouldn't buy it unless it was on sale and I had a coupon for it. But if you you have a real dark spot problem and can't afford prescription drugs, this will work fine for you. Absorption I liked the absorptive capability. Doesn't Clog Pores I don't have oily skin, but it didn't do anything to clog my pores. Effectiveness It lightens a bit. Don't expect miracles though.

Does not seem to be working

My face has some dark acne spots. Some are new and some of them are from the past. I decided to buy the porcelana skin lightening cream and give it a try. I applied the cream on my face for a couple of weeks and my acne spots did not go away. There seems to be some perfume added to the cream and I don't like perfume smell. It kind of makes me dizzy. In addition, new acne seems to develop on the spots where I applied the cream. Maybe it takes longer to be effective. However, it doesn't seem to be promising after a couple of weeks' use. They also have lightening cream for night time use as well. I've tried that one and not effective. This cream doesn't dissolve into the skin. Instead, it stays as a thick layer there to clog the pores.

Porcelana Skin Lightening Cream does not deliver

I bought Porcelana Night Skin Lightening Cream because it was free with my local Rite Aid using the Single Check Rebates program and I had the dreaded AGE SPOTS on my face.   When young and ill informed, my friends and I would go to the Jersey shore and rub baby oil and iodine (did I really do that?!) on our bodies and lay on the beach all day.  Now, I am paying the price with age spots on my face plus on several parts of my body and would like to make them less noticeable.  Porcelana has been around a long time, I remember seeing the advertisements on TV during breaks on As The World Turns (my mom's favorites soap back in the day), and I thought that anything that was advertised was true.  Well, it is not so...we find that out as we become wiser and OLDER!   After using the Porcelana cream for several weeks, I just did not see any improvement but continued using the product because it did moisturize my skin and I wasn't going to let the product go to waste.  The smell is a little sweet and cloying, I don't like too much of a smell in my face creams; it bothers me at night to keep smelling the perfume in any facial cream.    The active ingredient is Hydroquinone 2% but I think it is better to go to the dermatologist to get a higher concentration to have it actually work.  Oh well, what can I say?  It was a free product but I would not recommend it.
