I adopted Jackson, a miniature sized poodle about 7 years ago from a rescue shelter in Knoxville, TN. He was the outcast of a puppy mill. The owner decided he didn't want him because he "marked" everywhere. I knew when I got him at ~11 months old that he should be able to be housebroken if he were only neutered. With the program, the adoption fee paid for his neutering and immunizations. I was able to work with him for about 1 week and he was completely housebroken. He bonded with me instantly and has been such a fantastic companion. I really was glad to get him because he had lost so much weight... review »

My miniature Poodle, Gabriel, is the light of my life. He is a true mini - bred for the circus. He is easy to train and has a wicked sense of humor. He actually played a practical joke on me. There isn't a single day that goes by that he doesn't make me laugh. He's nine years old but still has the energy of a puppy (see reviews of Nature's Variety food). Poodles have the intellect of a 3-year-old human child, which means they are very smart. Gabe know hundreds of words and can tell what I'm going to do just by my body language.

My rescue toy Poodle, Manny, is just a bundle of love. If I stop moving...

I've been involved in poodles seriously since I was a teen and love the breed. It is the right breed for me as they are high energy, easy to train, don't shed much (though grooming takes more than other breeds) and are overall happy good tempremented dogs.

If you are to get a poodle, please make sure you check out the Poodle Club of America or Poodle Club of Canada for relevent health tests your puppies parents should have as the breed is plauged with genetic disease from BYBs that can actually be easily prevented.

Get a poodle if you are

-High Energy and Active

-Willing to Groom a little bit

I love my poodle so much. My miniature poodle is color brown. This color is very rare.in poodle breed. She is so cute.I always cuddle and rub her tummy her just like a teddy bear. She always slept in my bed every night. If she wants to come in,she knocks on my door or growls. She is very picky on dog food.I sometimes cook beef for her or buys dog food in can. When it comes to their health, she doesn't shed much fur. They lived a long life. They also like treats. They are so smart. My poodle knows how to sit, shake hands, give me five, down and jumps on the bed. She even knows our car's horn...

I have a 8 year old black male standard poodle. I got him as a rescue dog when he was about 6 months old.

The necessary trimming is a real time consuming pain. It's also expensive to have someone else do it. Bathing is easy. I just tell him to get into the tub and he steps in. He also sits pretty still when I'm shaving him.

He is one of a small handfull of dogs that I have owned or been around that I trust with kids. I have a 3 and a 5 year old grandchildren. There have been a couple of times (when my back was turned) that they had been rough with him. His response was to just get up and move. He...

I have had miniature poodles my whole life, have breed them with my parents growing up and absolutely love the breed. They have the best personalities and are very loving and sensitive to your attitudes and mood. They love nothing more than to curl up with you and be in your lap while you watch TV or read a book. This breed of dog is happy doing what you are doing. If you are active, they will be active with you. They don't shed, which is great for anyone with allergies or who just likes to wear dark clothing. They are a great addition to any family. I know one of the cons listed is high maintenance,... review »

I had been married only 1 month when we decided to buy a dog.  We answered an ad for the runt of a toy poodle litter.  She was so tiny!!  But she was definately the boss!!  She was hard to potty train but was very smart in all other areas.  She slept with us of course.  She was such a sweety - I really miss her.  She lived to be 18.

I have had several Toy Poodle's and find them excellent with children. They do not shed however; you will find hair "balls" about the house, very easy to pick up. With occasional grooming you will find them to be fine house dogs. They will give you more love back than you can possibly give them.

We have a standard poodle that is now a complete member of the family.  She understands English and our emotions.  She is smarter than most people I know.  Please make sure that you go to AKA poodle breeder.
