Pollo Tropical - Miami, FL Review

My how the Pollo Tropical has evolved! If you don't remember this chain only offered the barbecue chicken, rice and beans a few sides. Now the patrons enjoy a variety of offerings, including chops, pulled pork, seafood, Caribbean chicken soup, Tropichills... Beer! Everything! And this is a great location. If you go to the location in Coral Gables,you'll have a terrible time parking. But here there is ample parking. One thing that struck me while I had lunch there yesterday, is how varied the patrons were at this location. It was full to the brim and everyone was different. There was a young executive, and well dressed mature female, an American mother with three little ones, three corse construction workers, a husband and wife conducting business,.. Every type, every ethnic group....

The food was very good. This location has great seasoning and is well managed. I had the quarter chickien with the two sides, "Yellow Rice With Vegetables" and Yucca. This cost me $4.19. It is served with a soft bun and you can now get ice cold water from the soda machine yourself. I ate every crumb on my plate, but declined the flan or other desserts. The previous time we visited this location, we spent $14. I ordered a Tropichill, but could not drink it because it was too cold so that my gums hurt. My daughter ordered a beer. She did drink her beer, but did not eat all of the food. She loves the black beans at this restaurant. She is a big black bean fan, and has them everywhere she goes, in various recipes from all over the world. Yes folks, the black bean is not just Cuban! It never seems to cause her any flatulence. She has the flatulence irrespective of eating the black beans.

Well I have patronized this restaurant for a long time. I can't seem to get a fresh take on it because it is so familiar. I recomend it to anyone looking for a good cheap meal.
