Why Was it Discontinued?

5

I purchased this TV and due to flood lost it three months afterward. Those were three great months, I must say. Now it is discontinued and I can't find it anywhere. That makes me sad. Very sad/ I am unsure why it is no longer made or why so many others on here have given it such bad reviews. In my eyes this is the best TV that I have ever looked at. The picture represents Polaroid in the best light. The program is vivid, in the best color and beautiful. it is a TV offering great sound and so much more. There area a ton of extras on the TV that I enjoyed but I can say the color was so amazing nothing else really mattered to me. I have yet to find a TV that would provide me with such a n amazing picture. The TV offers an awesome picture and a lightweight design, both of which are very beneficial. It is also attractively designed and perfect for use with a stand or attached to the wall. This is an Awesome TV. If you find one anywhere, buy it. You will not be disappointed.

Ok tv, but dont use the built in tuner.

I work at a resort on the Oregon Coast, we have 105 of these (they are in half our rooms) the other 100 rooms have Phillips tv's. Out of the 105 Polaroid tv's I bet we have replaced 25 of them in just over 1 year, in the same time we have not replaced even one Phillips. There seems to be an issue with the ATSC/NTSC tuner. It seems that if you were to have this tv set up with a cable or sat box using composite/component or HDMI cables you would probably not have as many problems, but if you plan to use the integrated tuner (connected straight to the cable outlet or an antenna) beware. I do have to admit that the sound and PQ is good... when they work that is.

Good picture, excellent sound

This is our second LCD tv purchase. Our first purchase was an off-brand and we are happy with it, but once we had the new Polaroid hooked up to DVD, cable, it has better pic and much better sound.  We got a good deal on this tv (after thanksgiving sale) so it evens out what I overpayed on the first tv.  Should have gotten the Polaroid the first go round!

My television started making popping noises within a week. It was so sutle I wasnt even sure if It was just my imagination. Well within one month it made a popping noise and wouldnt turn back on.  Well poloroid warranty tell me they will order my part and send a tech out within a week. no phone call or tech.  1month go buy and they promise. 3 months go by with me harrasing and trying to get the tv fixed. the part finally came but the tech never once called. by the fourth month i had enough and demanded my money back. they gave me the runaround forever....lies and lies. thats why they are bankrupt now. poorly made products and horrible customer service.

Polaroid sent a technician he attempted to repair it twice, but was unsuccessful.I had to call Polaroid over and over for months to try to get a refund. My girlfriends t.v. broke about 7 months later.

Polaroid TV has strange image issues and unclear picture

We have had this television for about two years now, and have wished we had purchased something else since the day we got it.  Something we noticed the moment we removed it from the box is that the speakers are very low quality, and do not resonate sound very well.  We have the television set up in the living room and can barely hear it when in the kitchen (the two rooms are adjoined).  The picture quality has also never been great, and most images appear kind of fuzzy and out of focus.  On top of that, recently a purpleish cloud has appeared over the upper right half of the screen, making it so that the picture underneath is visible, but is changed to have a purpleish hue on the top.  The DVD player also seems like a bad idea because it broke after only a short time, meaning we had to purchase a DVD player to use with it.  While it was not a very expensive television, it still has had enough problems to make it not really worth the money we spent on it.

We got the Polaroid flat screen 32in HDTV/DVD combo.  At first the DVD player worked, but it wasn't long before we started having trouble with the DVD player.  It started skipping and pausing for long periods of time and then it started not playing the DVD's, even brand new ones.   Or, it simply took many minutes for it to start the DVD, which made me nervous.  Once this started to happen it would take several minutes to be able to get the DVD out.  One time it took more than one try over a couple of days.  Finally we got it out, however, we finally gave up on the DVD player and exchanged it, thinking that we had gotten a defective TV.  After some hassle at the store we were able to exchange it.  The DVD player worked great at first.  We used it and loved how convenient it was to have the DVD player part of the TV.  I also do not like having tons of devices with all of their cords by the TV.  It's ugly and a pain getting everything hooked up.  So, having the DVD player as part of the TV made it look nicer and more convenient.  However, it did not take long for it to have trouble playing the movies just like before.  In fact, it started not working well in even less time than the first one did.  Started out just here and there and then it started taking a long time to play the movie.  I would get nervous and try and take the DVD out and that would work sometimes, but many times it took awhile for it to get ejected.  Eventually we gave up not wanting to lose a DVD to the player.  The TV part works great.  I really like having adaptors on the side of the tv, it makes it a lot easier to set up the kids gamecube rather than going to the back of the TV.  It has options on how you can watch your movie, for example (zoom, widescreen, full, and normal).  The remote also works on our Sony DVD player, which is also nice.  I also really like that I can put my card from my camera straight into the TV.  You simply change the input and then you can have a slide show of your pictures on your TV.  You can look at each picture as long or short as you want because you tell it when to go to the next one.  It also has a USB port.  Both the USB port and the card reader are on the side of the TV which is great.  It was easy to set up and had easy directions.  I like that it is black and love having the flat screen.  I also really love having it HDTV.  When we moved from Utah to North Carolina it held up great, which is saying something.  It got dropped once and it is still working so it is made well, just not the DVD part.  I am not sure why the DVD player would only work for such a short period of time.  The TV has worked great since day 1 and the DVD player did not work for very long at all.  The whole point of buying a TV DVD combo is to have the DVD player and use it, otherwise you might as well just buy them seperately, which is what I suggest.  Also, with what I have seen with the built in DVD player, it doesn't make me want to buy another Polaroid DVD player.  If they are going to put a TV and DVD together, they should both be a quality item.  Another plus to the TV is that it has 7 input sources plus the DVD input source, the computer input source, the USB input source, the card reader input source and one for cable/satelite.  This is really nice as it gives you many options, many places to plug into, and makes it more versatile.  As to when we will buy another TV whether I'll buy another Polaroid?  Honestly I am mixed.  I really like the TV.  It is a good quality TV that is reliable.  It is easy to use and easy for my kids to switch between video games and movies.  It has many convenient features.  It has survived a long distance move, and being dropped.  It has a nice design and I like the way that it looks.  All of the hook-ups are in the back or on the side which I like.  Especially the hook-ups that are on the side, because they are convenient but not as ugly as having the hook-ups and cords in the front!  I really dislike having the DVD player last for a month or two.  That to me is ridiculous.  I really like the idea of combing the two but they were not able to accomplish this well.  We paid extra money to have the DVD player combined with the TV and it worked for only a short amount of time, so we had to get another DVD player anyway.  Will we ever buy another Polaroid TV?  Maybe.  But it will not be a TV DVD combo.

Nothing but problems from this Polaroid flat Screen!

1

We had this tv for 4 months before the built in dvd stopped working.  I noticed that the dvd area would get extremely hot.  It was still under warranty so we made the call and they replaced the part only to have it stop working about 6 months later.  Once again we called and they sent someone who wanted to lay the tv on the floor screen down to fix it.  We made him put it on a blanket and once again they replaced it.  It lasted about 4 more months and then stopped working again.  I believe that the built in dvd player was overheating because of poor ventilation.  About 6 months later the whole tv just stopped working.  Biggest waste of money we ever spent!!!!

Have Enjoyed This TV!

I bought my Polaroid TV almost three years ago and have really enjoyed it. This TV is the first flat screen/HDTV I have owned and I have had no problems with it. I got mine at Wal-Mart during a Black Friday sale, so the price was really great, which is what prompted me to buy. The picture is very crisp and I have had no trouble with the sound either. I admit that I did absolutely no research prior to buying this TV, just decided to get it on a whim. After purchasing, I read a lot of negative reviews and became concerned and went back and got an extended warranty. I often think when people get a lemon, they tend to write a review because they are frustrated. You can often find more negative reviews than positive. As for me, I have needed neither the Polaroid warranty nor the extended store warranty. I use this TV in my den, which is a very small room compared to the den in a lot of my friends' homes. My house is older and the rooms are smaller and this TV has been perfect for me. I'm single and low maintenance and am not the type to run out and get something the moment it hits the shelf. I suppose if you are a TV connoisseur this TV might not meet your needs but for me and my humble home, it works great. I really love my TV and have been extremely pleased with it.
