Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair Review

At last!  Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair has arrived in my local Walgreen's.  For anyone with three shedding animals, the advance ads and coupons (which I lost while waiting) raised tremendous anticipation.

So did dmlichnerowicz's review in which she countered S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc.'s  "... throw the sweeper away when... full" directions of  with her own instructions on how to take the dual rollers out, clean them, then replace them for another go-round.

S. C. Johnson & Son has gone very public with its GREEN-ness, an impressive use of solar, for example, reducing Johnson's energy needs at its Racine, Wisconsin plant.  I like the fact that the Pledge Sweeper carton is 85% post-cosumer content.  But the plastic top of the Sweeper is made of 5% minimum post-industrial recycled content and -- if the Sweeper didn't work so well -- it would be easy to pass the whole thing off as a flimsy piece of plastic junk.

But the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair does work well.  I welcome its help after the dogs have exited the backseat of the car or the cat has nestled and shed on yet another throw cushion.  (The Sweeper did a super job on the hairy blue velveteen.)

Since the Sweeper rollers are, in fact, only half rollers, their self-cleaning action and disposal of hair in the middle of the Sweeper necessitates a short side-to-side motion.  This requires a technique adjustment if you've been using adhesive rollers, but the trade-off's just fine.  No more stopping to work with sticky tape.

The Pledge Sweeper for Pet Hair shouldn't be used on vinyl or leather or wet surfaces or pets (wouldn't they love the back and forth with the grabby rollers).  Let common sense prevail, and if dmlichnerowicz's recycling advice works for you, so much the better!

My Pledge Sweeper cost $3.50 (Walgreen's had a two-for-$7 special).  I'd have saved another dollar if I'd found my coupon.  If your home is hairy, this is definitely worth a try.
