Pledge Duster Plus Multi-Surface Wands with Spray —

Living in the desert makes dusting a top priority. Just a few days can go by, and if you haven't dusted, it looks like a sandstorm blew through. All the grit can ruin electronics too. I was sick of my cream and dirty rag...so, I decided it was time to try the Pledge Duster. It says is cleans multi-surfaces, which is just the kind of product I'm looking for.

FIRST DAY

The box has a wand, two dusters heads, and 8 oz of cleaning spray. It retails for $3.75 - $5, which seems like a decent price. The handle has a little hole to hang it by. The box says it cleans blinds, electronics, knicknacks, metal and wood, and that it traps allergens.

The spray fits into little compartment, and a head slides onto two prongs on the top of the wand. I fluffed up the head, and sprayed some spray onto the duster, as I'm a little leery of spraying it directly onto surfaces without testing it first.

I dusted down my entertainment center, which was, well, plain gross. I saw a little amount of dust go flying, but just about all of it was picked up by the duster head. This duster makes it easy to get in all the nooks and crannies, and around the vents in the electronics. You can also bend the handle to go around corners, which is an excellent feature. But this point my head was already brown! I did the blinds, and then the thing was just filthy. Time for head number two already?!

DAY TWO

I tried and tried to shake some of the dust loose of the head the next day. Some dog hair flew off, but that was all. Time for head number two. That was quick, I don't feel like I got much use out of the first. I did the window sills, the whole den. Then I sprayed some of the spray directly onto my satellite box and got some serious streakage on the black plastic! Oops. Look like the way to go is to spray on the head only. No streaks yet that way. The box says not to spray it directly onto mirrored surfaces, or TV screens. I imagine it's a big no no on computer screens. I tried the bathroom mirror, sprying on the head first. It sis a good job, and left no streaks, but not a good as a glass wipe or paper towel. I did a few more rooms quickly.

Head number two was getting dark already. I wringed it with my hands, and banged it against the side of the house. A good deal of dust came off, hopefully enought to get another day's use out of it.

OVERALL

There is something kind of fun about using this thing. It's nice to not have to keep switching products for different places. You might even be able to get your kids to use this!

The head didn't snag on anything. Refills are a good price at $5 a box. However, this product would be much more eco-friendly AND economical if the heads were washable and re-usable. It says not to use them with water, so I guess this eliminates the possibility of washing it. I would be willing to pay more for the original product if I could just throw the heads in the washing machine. This is really my only complaint with the product.
