Pleasant Hearth Edinburg Series Fireplace Glass Doors —

When we purchased our house, everything (lights, hardware, switch covers, etc.) was polished brass. I am not a big fan of polished brass, but it does have its place and uses. It looked okay in the house, but after a few years we have tired of the traditional look and have decided to update things to be more transitional/contemporary by painting, replacing lighting and hardware, etc. One of the biggest things left to replace was the polished brass fireplace doors in the family room. We had been looking for replacement doors, but didn't have much luck. Then toward the end of this Spring I was walking through Home Depot to get some more paint and just happened to find one set of these doors left. I wasn't looking for them, but everything about them seemed to jump out at me - the color, the design, and the size. I snatched them up, took them home and installed them that day before my wife bot home. She didn't quite notice the change, but when she did she really liked this doors (score one for me!). They have a durable gunmetal grey finish that looks great and would probably work well in just about any type of room. In addition, these doors are pretty heavy-duty and well-made. Some assembly is required such as attaching the door handles and inserting the insulation strips in the back. These doors come in various sizes, so make sure you get the right ones! I purchased the Large size (ED5412) which ill fit a 36" x 43" opening. They are a bit larger than my old doors, but they look great! The doors are heavy and then there are full wire mesh screen doors behind the glass ones. I like this type of screen door rather than the dangling chains as they look nicer and are easier to use. Just open them up and nothing is hanging down in the way.

These doors install pretty much the same way as most do with two clips and tension screws in the bottom corners and two similar fasteners on the top edge. Not including the time it took to remove the old doors (less than 5-10 minutes) and clean the fireplace opening and trap (about 10-15 minutes), the new doors were installed in about 10 minutes. There is also an additional riser bar included that goes across bottom, if needed, to add additional height to the doors.

I highly recommend these doors if they fit your design taste and color preference. They are very well-built, are easy to install, and have a good design. I suspect we will have and enjoy these for many, many years.
