great product with great value attached

this product is well worth paying for.  its durable-my 2 yr. old son has thrown it on the ground many times and it has not broke.  easy to clean and store.  i also have a 15 month old granddaughter that drinks from these cups without any problems.  she has also thrown it on the ground a few too many times and still intact.  great for on the go, except when they turn the cup upside down- it'll drip quaranteed.  love this product.  bought more for my neices and nephews.

My son loves this cup!

Once my son learned to drink from a straw, he refused to drink out of the normal sippy cups which meant I had to find just the right sippy cup with a straw. I went through several before making this a permanent addition. We had one cup that was almost impossible to clean and finally I used a knife to pry it apart because of a terrible odor coming from the cup only to find curdled milk tucked away inside. Yes - disgusting! But not with this cup - there are three parts - the short straw that you see on the outside, the longer straw that is on the inside & the cover for the straw on the outside. These parts come part & fit back easily & it's so much easier to keep this cup clean.

Good concept with the straw but hard for toddlers to use.

After my son was broke from the bottle and he had been on sippy cups for a while my husbad and I thought these cups would be a good experience to moving forward. When we gave the cup to our son he didnt know what to do with it because the straw was bendy and he was used to turning the cup upside and this one would leak all over him. So we used these cups for maybe a week then we gave them away.

These straw cups are nice, but not fun to clean and store.

Playtex's Insulator Sport Straw Cups come in the same colors and patterns as the sippy cups. Mine are purple and pink to suit HRH's feminine tastes. Instead of a lateral spout, the child sips from a silicone straw which cannot be removed from the top of the cup. A flip-top is built into the lid and can be closed over the straw to keep it from getting dirty or leaking. I can remove this flip-top to wash it separately, but I have to be determined because it clamps very tightly to the lid. Unfortunately, the two things that impressed me the most about Playtex's sippy cup are not repeated in their straw cup. First, the cup is not leak-proof unless the flip-top is closed. When it is open, if the cup lays on its side, a slow but steady stream of liquid will dribble out of the air-vent and the straw. If HRH turns it upside down, she is fascinated by the drips. This is not a deal-breaker, since the straw cup only claims to be spill-proof, not leak-proof. The real disappointment is the difficulty in cleaning and containing the pieces of the straw. One of my favorite things about the Insulator sippy cup was that lid contained a slot where I could store the valve in the dishwasher. I never had to hunt for a valve or wash it by hand, because they stayed with the cup at all times. The straw cup offers no such solution, and the two-piece straw is even more difficult to wash, either by hand *or* in the dishwasher, than the valve was. While the spout of the straw is soft, the section inside the cup is hard plastic. There is no place in my dishwasher for a skinny, hard, plastic straw. I have to wash this piece by hand. Often, by the time the rest of the cup emerges from the dishwasher, I have put the other part of the straw away and forgotten where. As far as the rest of the cup goes, it is exactly the same as the sippy cup. In fact, the lids for both styles are interchangeable with all the Insulator cups. The cup does a good job of keeping the liquid inside fresh and cool. This means that if HRH loses her cup behind the couch and I don't find it until the next day, the little bit of milk inside might only be room temperature, not curdled and nauseating. If I find a brand of straw cups with a built in storage solution for the pieces, or easier pieces to clean, I will take two. So far, I am still looking. For a portable straw cup that HRH can't make a mess with unless she is really trying, this does what I need it to do.

Good Sippy Straw Cup for that Throwing Toddler

3

Playtex Insulator sports cup can keep a drink cold for hours. Its strong durability is a plus especially when you have a child who is a constant thrower. The straw stays put and the straw cover is a added plus to keep sanitary and clean on outings. This cup is my son's favorite. We love the colors and the design. We found that after several months of use the one flaw that I found in cleaning this straw sippy cup is after pulling the straw out if you look in there you will find mold and black gunk that is impossible to get out. I  washed this cup by hand and by dishwasher and still can't seem to get that part clean. Soaking didn't even seem to get this clean. If anyone has any tips on cleaning this out I'd love to hear them.

Fun to use, hard to clean

2

My children enjoyed using these cups and the colors and designs on the cups are pretty nice. The amount of liquid this cup holds is good also.  This makes it fun to drink out of for your children, but that is about all the positive I can say about these cups.  They spill when they are laid on the side.  It also drips. They are impossible to clean!  Every mother has has issues with children loosing their cups and if by chance you let your child drink milk in this cup and then your child looses this cup.  When you find the cup you will NEVER get the milk out of the curvy two part straw.  You can bleach this cup till you run out of bleach but you will never get the yuck out of the curvy two part straw.  Then it turns into a waist of money when you have to throw that cup away.  This is not a way this coupon clipping thrifty Mom wants to spend her money.  That is why I gave this cup only 2 stars.

Not a fan of this sippy cup

2

These Playtex straw sippy cups were quite difficult for my toddler to use.  I bought one of these when I wanted to teach him how to drink from a straw.  He did eventually figure out the straw part, but he still wanted to tip it up like he would with a regular sippy cup.  He had the hardest time figuring out that he had to keep it down and just suck on the straw.  When he was going to use a straw I found it easier for him to just use a regular cup -- if I wanted spill proof I would stick with a regular cup.  The straw was quite difficult to clean since it is so narrow.  The normal brush I use to clean bottles and sippy cups were much to big to get into the straw to clean it.  They did come in fun colors, which is nice, but other than that, there is not much I would recommend about these.  Playtex straw sippy cups are not something that I will use when my second son is old enough to use sippy cups -- I will stick with a standard sippy cup.

No mess and no BPA

I love this sippy cup.  It has minimal leakage, is diswasher safe, and is easy for my kids to use.  Once I found out that is was BPA free, I was sold!  I would reccommend it for kids 18 months and up. My 2 year olds can use this cup easily.  It holds enough to last them a while and can even be used by my 5 year old. It comes apart easily when it's time to wash it in the dishwasher.  The design does not last as long as I'd like but that's not as important to me as the quality of the cup.  It has minimal leakage (it can leak when laying on its side and full of liquid but it doesn't leak much then.  Otherwise it does not leak.  I have 3 kids and have used this for my 5 and 3 year old and will use it for my baby once she's 18 months or 2 years old.  The straw cover can be a little tricky for younger kids but is easier to use than other covers on sippy straws.  Overall a great sippy that is safe and easy to use and clean!

Great Straw cup

4

As my son grew he changed from a sippy cup to a straw cup. He is now 3 years old. He enjoys drinking from the straw cup, he fells as if he is a big boy now. He sees us drinking from a straw and likes to mimic us or should I say join us.  He understands how to open the straw spout and how to close it. It is very easy to handle. He know that if he turns it upside down that the liquid will spill.  The cups come with different cartoon characters and he likes that. He selected which color cup and which cartoon character he wanted on his cup when I was buying it. The insulated cup keeps the warn liquid warn and the cold liquid cold for a period to time. The cups are smooth and round and the base is round.  I am able to use his bottle cleaning brush to clean the Straw cup.  I also bought a straw cleaner to clean the straw because milk and juice sediments do linger in the straw. Detaching the inside straw and the straw from the sprout is easy and cleaning is easy. The cup is made from hard plastic and does not change shape easily.  It is sturdy, firm and durable. The only problem is that I cannot seem to find a bigger size cup.  I did not want to buy an adult straw cup for him because they do not have the cartoon characters on it and it is not as colorful. He drinks a lot and sometimes I have to fill up the cup a second time. Other than that it is a good cup to have.

Playtex Straw Cups are a Good transition cup

4

I picked up this cup because I forgot my son's sippy on the counter and we were going out to have a full day of shopping. This cup is a really good transition cup however it does drip some from the straw. I would buy more of these cups. But I would not fill my cabinets with them.
