Playtex Ventaire Baby Bottles —
When I was no longer able to breastfeed, I had to find a feeding system that worked almost as well, and that didn't give my baby added gas. I knew that finding a low-cost bottle that I could be sure wouldn't upset my baby's tummy would be hard to find, but then I came across the Playtex Ventaire system. Like the more expensive Dr. Brown's bottles, the Ventaire keeps air and bubbles from going into baby's tummy. Unlike Dr. Browns, the Ventaire doesn't cost a ton, and you don't need a teeny-tiny bottle brush to clean the tube after every feeding! The unique shape of the bottle, coupled with the Y-cut of the nipple, both help to keep air from going back into the bottle, and the vents at the bottom keep air from coming in. I also liked the bottle because my daughter had to work a little bit to get her formula, not unlike the work she had to do at the breast - so she wasn't getting confused between breast and bottle. I have never had a problem with leaks, or with the little clear disc at the bottom of the bottle...and they are REALLY easy to clean compared to the Dr. Brown's bottles. The only con that I can think of is that after some time, they tend to get a little gunked up around the threading, and can become harder to clean, but with the money I've saved it's not such a big deal to throw them out and start with a fresh bottle (and you can keep your nipples!). I do agree with the comment made about the nipple stages though, but not that there needs to be a stage between 1 and 2. We had a great transition from the stage 1 to stage 2 nipple, but I do feel that my daughter sometimes takes a very long time to drink from the stage 2 nipple and I wonder if a stage 3 (even faster flow) would help. But all in all, I love this product...it made bottle-feeding bearable for our family!!!
