Spend the money on a more expensive pump.

2

I wasn't happy with this pump at all. I can't understand all the positive reviews it has been getting. I opted to get a double pump with the idea in my head that if I pumped both breasts and one time, I would be able to fill up more bottles faster. I work ten to sixteen hour days some weeks so I like to be able to have as much milk pumped as I possibly can. I purchased this pump for what I thought was a great price. Playtex is usually a trusted brand and I have never had a complaint with one of their products until now. Sometimes while I was breast feeding on one side, I would just pump the other breast with this pump to make use of every precious minute I could use to pump. When I just pumped one breast I got a decent amount of suction and it wasn't uncomfortable at all. The issue I have with this is when I hook up both pumps and attempt to pump, the machine just doesn't put out. The motor sounds like it's going to explode and the pump cannot pull enough milk through strong enough to fill up my bottles. I end up wasting more energy and time using both sides. I can pump a decent amount at a decent rate with one side but using both is just a mess and very slow. I lose suction and I lose flow when I use both sides. I should have just spent a little more money on a better pump or gotten a single sided pump if this is going to be an issue. Comfort The suction is comfortable with one or both on. Ease of Cleaning It's easy to clean. Durability When I tried to use both sides of the pump, it sounded like it was going to explode. I didn't notice this when I just used one side though. Versatility You can only use one side of this at a time but I found it easy to use and cover myself while I pumped. I can even pump one breast while I feed off the other but it's just disappointing that I couldn't pump both breasts at once. Ease of Use The product is great and easy to use if you're just pumping one breast. The issue arises when you try to pump both breasts simultaneously.

Worked at first, but....

I needed a breast pump, bad. I sent my husband to the store to get one. He bought the Playtex Petite Double Electric Breast Pump. He was looking at price more then how well it worked. The first week or so it worked but was slow, not much suction. I had to keep adjusting it and trying to get back in the rhythm. Then where the tube meets the machine, the tube connector broke and would not connect so it lost suction. I do like it came with the extras. The bottles were nice, shape and size. Other then the bottles the pump was not worth the price. I wish i had took my time and went before i gave birth to think about getting a pump. Comfort Not very comfortable. It kept loosing suction and i had to keep adjusting it. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning was easy but it was hard to clean the flap area where the milk goes from the pump cups to the bottles. I thought i was going to break every time i cleaned. Ease of Use I had to keep adjusting to keep pumping, it kept loosing suction.

lasted only one month....

This is my first time having experience with breastfeeding and pumping and bought this pump 3 days after my daughter was born. It worked for around 2 weeks without any problems...then I ended up having to switch to using only one hose and pump at a time because if I used both I would loose suction. It also got to be so much louder than when I had first purchased it. (It was never the quietest of things to begin with but tolerable)The time I was wasting having to pump using only the one pump got to be ridiculous. I had finally had enough one day and went out and bought a different elecric pump. I wouldn't reccomend this pump for an everyday breast pump at all. The one thing I liked about it was not having to deal with the size of the flange because it just sucked down the silicone to fit practiacally any size needed. Durability Would not recommend for an everyday use breast pump. It didn't hold up for my multpile uses a day for more than a couple weeks. Versatility Did not like not being able to use it with other types of bottles. Made it such a pain after each pumping.

Pump works well for its price

I bought this pump because I lost my other one in a move. I loved that one but it was no longer made. I couldn't spend a lot of money so I bought the Platex double electric. I already use the playtex nurser bottle set so it seemed ideal to use something that pumps into the liners. Since then I have read though that the liners are not great to freeze in though. I have used it a handful of times for about a week. I have been able to pump as much milk as I did with my old one so I assume the suction is good enough. I definitely have to use it on the highest setting to get milk. It does leave my breasts feeling pretty sore, more so than my old one, but that passes. Pumping isn't very comfortable anyways! You have to make sure and position just right. I usually have to break suction and move the pump to get milk each time on at least one breast. It is easy enough to clean compared to my two old pumps and I like having the bag to store everything in.

My Playtex Breast Pump makes baby & mommy happy!

When I read what some of the other reviewers were saying about the Playtex Petite pump, I was baffled and surprised. To each their own, but I have used several different pumps and the Playtex is by far the best. Just to set the stage of why I chose the Playtex:I wanted to breastfeed until my baby was a year.I worked part-time after our first baby was born.So my search began while I was on maternity leave with my first baby and the Playtex pump had everything I was looking for: 1. Double pump with the ability to easily convert to a single pump. 2. Sterile: All parts that come in contact with milk can be thrown in the dishwasher or even boiled. 3. Efficient: Something that did collected more milk than my wimpy Evenflo! But yet, it also needed be... 4. Natural: I think some of the complaints of poor suction is because some women expect their pumps to be as efficient as a baby, but the best pump will never compare to a baby's ability to draw milk. Also, it's not healthy for the mother to have a pump that is a high powered vacuum! That will cause nipple damage and pain. The Playtex is great for this because it has... 5. Variable control suction dial. Ok, fancy vocab for the knob that can be turned to increase or decrease the power of the suction. A lactation consultant and the user manual both recommend starting low and increasing suction. This will give a great milk return! 6. Easy to store: If I was pumping a bottle to be used that same day, I would just attach the Playtex bottle and liner directly to the pump. Just make sure the liner is flattened because it will not fill correctly if there's air that needs displaced. 7. Dependable: My pump has been used fairly regularly (several times a week) for the first few months of both of my babies' lives and it's still going strong. And because it's easy to sterilize, I've loaned it to a friend and it's serving her well also! My only complaint is that I have to use my wimpy Evenflo when I'm on the road because this one does not have batteries or a car charger. At least mine didn't come with a car charger, so I assume that's not a viable power option. All in all, my experience with the Playtex pump has been great but I will offer this as a clause to my review: ASK YOUR LACTATION CONSULTANT what her recommendation is. Breastfeeding can be grueling and without the support of a lactation consultant it is even more difficult.

After 3 uses, had to have poor quality item replace

1

This item was poor quailty and after 3 uses, i called for replacement. Although they did replace some parts, the customer service was not helpful and did not listen to the problem. Therefore, they replaced the wrong parts. The item was hard to clean and very loud.

I was not pleased with this breast pump AT ALL! dont even spend the little amount that it cost on this machine. When i first had my son i was not able to breast feed off of my breast. but i was able to feed off of a pump. so i bought this pump because it wasnt very expensive and playtex is normally a good name. it worked wonderful for the first week.. until we were traveling to a different state for a visit. i unplugged it had it all neatly wrapped up and set in a travel bag i bought and when we got to our cabin it didnt work at all. you could hear it running but nothing was happening. we went over the manual, looked online, my husband even re put it together to make sure i had it all right. and everything was how it was suppose to be... but it wasnt working. i was really dissapointed and there went my alternitive to breast feeding my son. i was really unhappy and i will not be buying any breast pumps from playtex again and it makes me take a second look at the other products available from them.

The Playtex Petite Pump is a great budget-friendly pump!

I bought this pump when I had my 2nd child.  I used it while he was a baby and now also for my 3rd child.  I think it's a great pump for what you pay for.  I had rented a Medela pump with my first child and if I were to compare the two, I would have great things to say about both.  The Playtex is BY FAR more comfortable on you (the one who is pumping) than the Medela.  However, I think the Medela has much better suction and pumps better than the Playtex.  But, that being said, the Playtex pump certainly "gets the job done" and works well for such a low price (MUCH lower than the Medela). I found it best pumping on one side at a time (when you pump on both sides, the suction seems MUCH lower). It is annoying that way though because it takes much longer and almost defeats the purpose of having a double pump! One other complaint I have though is that there is a piece that connects the tubing to the pump that CONSTANTLY breaks!!  I have had to call SEVERAL times to have it replaced, but customer service was always nice and accomadating.  They say that they will send you a first replacement for free and then you can buy future replacements (if needed) online; however, every time I've called, they've sent me the replacements for free.  It's definitely a bad part and poor design on their behalf. I'm not sure how much longer this pump will last me - the motor sounds like it is on it's last leg!!  Speaking of motor, while I wouldn't say it's LOUD, it certainly isn't the quietest pump I've used, but I usually cover it up with a blanket and it seems fine.

Playtex Petite Pump is discreet and efficient.

I have never used a different breast pump but friends of mine who have chosen to breastfeed before me have told me their horror stories.  I have never had a problem with the Petite Breastpump.  Even a problem I had was very easily solved because I called the company and, even thuogh the part that was broken (labeled "elbow," the part that suctions onto to pump itself) was not specifically mentioned for re-order, the lady I talked to on the phone was able to order and send me three of them.  So not only is the pump itself efficient (it helped keep my supply up during periods of separation) and easy to operate and small enough to be carried around on trips (we do a lot of travelling), but the Playtex company itself is wonderful to deal with.  Non-electric pumps can hurt a woman's breasts and the fully automated types take ten minutes to hook up and operate.  The Petite Pump hooks up and even cleans in less than two minutes.  I would definitely recommend this to my younger friends who are just beginning their families, especially if it was the deciding factor between breast feeding and formula.
