I love how easy these cups are to clean and put together. The valve is one piece with an arrow that directs which end goes into the spout side. There is no "sweet spot" you have to fiddle it into to make the cup leak-proof. If you push the valve into the right side, the cup won't leak. For cleaning, push the valve into a little slot inside of the lid and place in the top rack of the dishwasher. The slot holds it tightly and I have yet to lose a valve. This is how all sippy cups should work, but they don't.
The packaging said the cup wouldn't leak, wouldn't sweat, and was insulated to keep beverages cool. I paid no attention to these promises because I didn't believe them, but I can now attest that they are all true. My other cups traveled in a zip-lock in my diaper bag, or else they would get everything wet from condensation. I put these into zip-locks a few times before I noticed that the outsides of the cups were dry and didn't need it. This also means that when my daughter lugs a cup of milk around for an hour, taking a little sip here and there, the insulation keeps it from getting warm.
If you do lose a valve, Playtex sells two replacements for 2.99. That seems a little steep for a couple valves, considering two cups were about six dollars. Use the slot before machine washing, and you probably won't lose them.
