Playtex Hip Hammock Child Carrier Review Summary
Designed for older infants (up to 35 pounds), the Playtex Hip Hammock is a baby carrier that allows parents to continue to hold a 20+pound baby while evenly distributing the weight to your hip “as if you were carrying them.” Made with “plenty of room for plump little babies,” the Hip Hammock is also “easy to store” as it folds up compactly. Unfortunately, many of our reviewers found the Playtex Hip Hammock to be “difficult to master” with straps that are difficult to adjust especially once baby is in it. Due to not being able to get a proper adjustment, the Hip Hammock “didn’t seem to be any more comfortable then simply holding them,” particularly for more petit moms.

I bought this after buying another product, trying to put it together and taking the old one back - toooooo difficult - so this one looked easier. It was much easier to get together - I coudl adjust it well even with him in it - it took a few tries to get used to but I am sure any product like this would. I couldn't justify spending 100 bucks on a Baby Bjorn so this was great alternative. If I had been in a situation where I had to use it with a small infant I would not have been able to use this - it is suggested for babies over 15 pounds or so - once my child…

I was so excited to buy this product. I'd done some research and all the reviews were good for the Hip Hammock. I bought it the day before we were going to a festival and would be doing tons of walking. My daughter can walk on her own but is too young for that type of event to be on her own. She loves to be carried so she can see what's going on. — — Wearing the Hip Hammock was so uncomfortable! Maybe it's because I am a plus sized mom to begin with, but by the time we left my back was aching so badly that I couldn't put my daughter in her car seat. I couldn't adjust it to make…

I have a very fussy 5 month old baby and was using a front carrier. The carrier is one of the only places that he would calm down and stop crying, it was difficult to get anything done with the front carrier, so i thought that the side carrier would give me a little more space and movement. Well i was wrong... it was so difficult to get on, and then let alone adjust. And after he was in it just a little bit, my shoulder was killing me and he had to come out. I am short, so i do not know if it did not fit well because i am short, or if it just doesn't fit well on many…

This carrier was a great idea when it was developed. I jumped at the chance to buy one, since both of my kids liked to be held/worn on the hip. — My husband loves this carrier. In fact, I have three of them. I have the original Bjorn, the Ergo baby carrier, and this one. He thought this one was the most comfortable and the most practical. — I did not enjoy it as much as he did. I am a lot shorter and my torso is very short. So after awhile, it made it uncomfortable to wear as the strap dug into my opposing shoulder. — This would rank #2 of my three carriers. —…

I am fairly petite and stands at 5'1" weighing around 110 lbs. I bought and took this playtex hip hammock carrier on a trip to San Diego and I tell you, it was not the most pleasant experience. I tried every conceivable way to adjust it but to no avail. It was more pain than anything wearing my 16 month old baby then. She's a a fairly small-sized peanut too. There was no way I could wear this more than 15 minutes without feeling pain on my back. It just didn't work for me. Perhaps it was only meant for taller or average size mommies.…

This was the only carrier my daughter would ever ride in. It's great because baby isn't so constricted to your body. It still gives them room to move around, but you still have an extra hand to get stuff done. It's also great for those times your shopping and baby only wants to be carried. It saves your arms from getting tired so fast and you can still do your shopping. —…

This is the most comfortable baby carrier I have ever used. Not only can I have my hands free at all times but I don't get any pains in my body while using it. Its a great product for a mom on the go. you can have both hands free while doing laundry, dishes, cleanin and more with the baby with you at all times. This product also cleans easy and the straps are easily…

Definatel not as good as it is hyped up to be. Such a chore just putting it on and taking baby in and out of it. My child actually was akward and uncomfortable in it, so by the time you start doing whatever you are trying to accomplish the child is over it and try getting them out of it safely (YEAH RIGHT)...sold mine for $2 after it being brand…

We purchased this product for your daughter when she was about 1 1/2. She had outgrown her front carrier and loved to be hold so I thought she would enjoy this! She likes it but mommy can only hold her in this for a couple minutes! It hurts your shoulders SO BAD after a SHORT time! I was very disapointed in this product! Waste of my $40! —…

I bought this while on vacation with my 9 month old. We were at the ocean and I needed something to keep him close and secure. I felt like he was falling out of it all the time. I also found it to hurt my back and shoulder when I used it for more then 20 minutes. It was not easy to adjust when he was in it and harder to get it right when he was out of…

I didn't find this useful. My boys seemed to be too big for it by 10 mths already. It was hard to get them in and out and didn't seem to be any more comfortable then simply holding them. I found a sling that works much better. I ended up returning this item because I wasn't willing to spend that much money for something that didn't work for…

I love our Hip Hammock. I have used it for two children now. Anywhere from 3 months (13 pounds) to a 2.5 year old (25 pounds). Easy to adjust. Love that it rolls up and can be easily stored and stashed away. Not too bulky. Not flashy at all, which I love. Comfy for baby too. Nice lining and padded shoulder strap for mom.…

I bought the baby bjorn. I tried it a couple of times. It was very difficult to put on and to get baby in and OUT of. Plus my baby was sweating after 2 minutes in it, the fabic was so thick. So, I shopped around for something else. I discovered the baby hammock and LOVE it. Its so easy to get the baby into it and out…
