Bring me a Ba-ba!
When I was no longer able to nurse my daughter, I was faced with finding a bottle she'd actually want to use. I was concerned that there weren't enough "natural feeling" options on the market. After several trips to local stores I tracked down the Playtex Original Nurser. My daughter had colic, as well as GERD (a reflux disorder causing overproduction of stomach acid).and this Playtex bottle was my final hope. My daughter had refused every bottle to this point, and it seemed as though she hated this one too. But after trying this bottle I noticed she was nursing comfortably, and she held her mouth in a manner that was natural looking.
The Playtex Original Nurser bottle comes in two sizes, 4 and 8 ounces. The bottles have hollow centers that take Playtex Drop-in liners (or generic brands). There's a twist-top ring that the nipple locks into, then both parts are easily twisted together. The Playtex bottles need to be thoroughly washed, but they don't require regular sterilization as bottles without liners would. The liner is designed to be easily disposed of after a single use. The bottles (including the nipples) are top rack dishwasher safe, but we use them so frequently that I hand wash everything. The outside of the bottles are marked in one ounce increments (up to 4 ounces on the small bottle and 8 ounces on the large one). The latex nipples included with these bottles use the Naturalatch system, meaning the tip raises and dispenses to match your infants natural sucking reflex.
After two years of extreme use, I've yet to encounter any leaks originating from these bottles. HOWEVER, DO NOT forget to put the bottle liner in!...My daughter can easily hold her Playtex Original Nursers, and she's never hesitated to use them. I love the fact that I'm not scrubbing bottles everyday. Playtex has been a lifesaver on many crying occasions. Just don't expect your toddler to want to part with them...
