Most HelpfulWe received the Diaper Genie IIas a baby shower gift, and after three months of constant use, I am ready to say that we couldn't live without it. It's really basically a fancy trash-can used for disposing of used diapers, but because of its ease of use, and time saving capabilities, it has become a...

Most HelpfulI received the Playtex Diaper Genie II for my baby shower. It's definitley one of those things that I never thought I would need so much.
The Diaper Genie II is designed for the diaper changing mama (or daddy) in mind. It's about two feet tall, slim and white. It's size and shape make it easy to store and dispose of diapers with ease. It controls odor with an AIR-TITE, seven layer film, and a Push-n-Lock clamp to lock away odor. To use just open the top of the pail, insert diaper and push down. In the opening you will find a "trap door" just push your way through there and deposit the diaper....
read full review »The Diaper Genie II came out right after we registered for a regular Diaper Genie, but fortunately, before anybody bought us the original kind. As soon as I read the box for this one, I knew I wanted it over the regular Diaper Genie. Here's why: This thing is designed to work perfectly, even when sleep-deprived parents are using it in the middle of the night.
The Diaper Genie II is white and is the size of a small kitchen trash can. It's tall enough that you don't have to bend too far to open it when you're disposing of a diaper. It's also nondescript enough to sit unnoticed next to the changing...
While it certianly is not a necessity, the Diaper Genie II has been a godsend for us. We have a dog that LOOOOVES to eat things like diapers. The dirtier teh better if you catch my drift. The diaper Genie II keeps him out! Even flip top trash cans can't stop him so the fact that the lid snaps shut is perfect. It does not pop open when knocked over either- so sneaky Fido can't even use that tactic.
Pros- Durable, it is sturdy and durable, so no issues with is cracking and releasing diaper smell.
It really does keep the smell contained. The lid snaps tight so ther eisn't much room for...
read full review »I have been using the Diaper Genie II for two months now and I have no complaints. It has an excellent compact little size and shape. It's also sturdy and won't fall over or scoot around if used on carpet. I haven't noticed any bad smell leaking out at all. It doesn't have a foot pedal like the Elite model, but I've found that I don't need it. I just open the top before I begin diaper changing and it's ready to go. You have to wrap the dirty diapers up into a tight little ball and then push them down through the trap. It doesn't use regular garbage bags, it needs the Diaper Genie...
read full review »The Diaper Genie II is a wonderful addition to our nursery. It is so easy to use... just pop open the lid and shove the diaper in, close the lid, and you are done! The refils are very easy to put into the contraption, and it is very easy to open it up for taking the dirty diapers out once it is full (maybe every 20-30 diapers or so). It has a cutting device inside that makes it very easy to cut the bag off and then you just tie up the bag of dirty diapers, and tie a knot on the end of the new section of bagging. Even after having diapers sit inside the Diaper Genie for several days, there...
read full review »The Diaper Genie Elite II is effective in cutting odor when closed. The step pedal is essential and convienient to use. My son is now 14 months old and his diapers still fit nicely throught he portal. I was warned that they would not. I believe the warning was given for the older model where you have to force the diaper through the top. I have not found this to be the case for the Elite II. I have rarely had to force the diaper through, rather, I simply put is in the hole and flick the pedal a few time until it drops. Only on occasion have I had to give the diaper a gentle push to get it to drop....
read full review »As a new parent I wasn't sure what was best to handle dirty diapers and lessen oders in my baby's room. I read a bunch of review and spoke with other mothers and it seemed like the Diaper Genie II was the most popular and recommended. It works well at containing odors but we have had a recent problem with it. As my son got older and was creating larger BM's the diapers were more full and required more force to push them into the bin and past the mechanisim that helped to trap the odors. Well a few weeks ago i was trying to push through one of his heavier diapers and a piece of the...

I bought the Diaper Genie ll at Babies R Us for only $15.00. It was on sale and I used an in store coupon. So for the amount I paid it is a great deal. I had the original Diaper Genie when I had my 9 year old. That one was more difficult to change the refills, but you could dispose of ithe diapers better than this one. This one you put your hand through the flap where all the dirty diapers are. That is the one downfall, but if you always wrap the diaper in a way that there's nothing sticking out of it you will not touch anything unwanted....My daughter is 7 months old now and on solids. I have...
read full review »One thing that I never would have thought about as a new parent would be to get a Diaper Genie. Why spend money on a fancy trash can and special bags? Why not just toss diapers in a trash can?
I'll tell you why: dirty diapers stink!!!
The Diaper Genie II (and I assume the first version) somehow keeps the odor contained and in a tight "package" for when the pail is full.
Refills are a little pricey, but trust me, this is a MUST-have.
I purchased the Diaper Genie II in preparation for my third child, hoping I would like it better than my earlier Diaper Genie. Nope. It's still a lot of trouble to use, and plastic holds odors no matter what you do. I'm now using individual bags for soiled diapers and switching to a stainless steel garbage can that won't hold odors.

In retrospect, I wish I'd done more research on the different genies. This one requires that you push the diaper down through the opening. The problem is, you pretty much have no option but to have your hand swiping against the same plastic that the dirty diaper trails against. It's pretty gross.
In addition, the top of ours--the lid--is always coming off. The blade is iffy--it doesn't always slice the bag quickly. Overall, I'm the opposite of satisfied.
