I never forgot when it first came out for Christams, it was a tons of people waiting in line in the winter cold just so they can get their hands on the PS3. When I finally brought it, I seen why. It have amazing graphics, you can browsing on the internet and chat in this vritue 3D world with your friends which it's free, but to get more clothes for your 3D character, you will have to pay. It have HD Blu-ray movies to the standard DVDs, downloadable movies and games, which I love. I was so happy that the PS3 store had the classic Mortal Kombat 2 arcade game, I think they have even more retro games that is downloadable from there. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, you can download themes for your PS3 from the PS3 store as well to custom your background, but not themes are free though. It also have a built in Wi-Fi and flash media reader and plays PS1 and PS2 games, which I pretty unsure about. When I do try to play any of my PS1 or PS2 games, it always said that the disk is not compatable, so maybe somehow, I am doing something wrong or certain PS1 or PS2 games are compatable. But besides that, the console is totally worth $299. ^_^
