We got this at Christmas and it was the best buy ever!!  I love that we can use it as a Blue-Ray player and we do almost every week.  We watch a movie with the kids every Friday and it was a great thing to be able to start getting high-def movies.  We also like that it is integrated with our home...

Ever since Sony got their start in 1995 they been on a role and in only a few years they even managed to capture the big number 1 name in the gaming business beating out heavy hitters like Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft. Now the highly anticipated Playstation 3 is finally here and Sony's latest sexy...

Well Sony you finally made it into the 21st Century.  XBox has been out for how many years now.  And you were bold enough to think that the PS3 was worth more than an Xbox?

Now that the price has been dropped ($ 399) for a 60gb it is now a reasonable alternative.  The game selection has been limited so far, but in recent months, there are more releases coming.  I chose the PS3 because of its' blu-ray capability.  Considering the price of a single blue ray player and a game console combined, it is not a bad deal.

The only real negative is the blu-ray does not automatically upconvert standard...

We just bought this Sony PlayStation, mainly for our son, but it was a joy and still is for the whole family. We all just love it! So many different sound effects and quality itself is outstanding. One bad thing about it is that we often have to remind our son to get busy with his homework, because it seems he enjoys his Playstation way too much. But other than that... everything is cool.

Our Sony Playstation 3 is everything!  It's our DVD Blue Ray player, our game console, our photo album, our video store - it can do just about anything and was worth every penny we spent. We used to have an XBox 360 but it died three times so we said "enough!" and got a PS3. We'll never look back!

With it's customizable themes, access to the internet and great new games, it's a wonderful product that is a serious technological heavyweight.  Each family member can create their own profile on either the Playstation 3 console or through the Sony Playstation Network [or both!].  That way, everyone...

The good:
The PS3 is a sexy piece of hardware, make no bones about it. Slickly designed to appeal to the techie set (like me), it really is the antithesis of the Wii, with a hi-tech look and build that will impress the casual and hard-core, alike.

It does an excellent job of playing DVDs and
(especially) Blu-Ray, with the capability to output at 1080p for HDTVs via HDMI.

It has tons of functionality and settings, including built-in wireless network connectivity, the ability to surf the web via an internal web browser and an online marketplace, where you have access to downloadable content including...

First there was Pong.  Yes, i'm old enough to remember the days of the Atari vs. Coleco wars.  Back then, we thought the graphics were good.  Then came Nintendo with their 8 bit system.  Of course, I had to have it.   Then Sega came out with the Genesis.  That by far was the best system out at than time.  The games were great, and there was tons of them!   Neo-Geo.....dead on arrival.  The bad move for Sega came with their Sega CD and then the 32X, which should have never been made because the Sega Saturn was months from being released.  So, when I saw that Sony was entering the video... review »

The Plastation 3 is so much more then a playstation especially if you have a nice home theater system. The PS3 not only plays games from all three systems but it also plays my blu-ray and DVD movies, streams my entire music collection over my home network (perfect when you have people over or during a party.), gives me access to my entire photo collection over my home network and plays all my videos. Now you need a home server or a cleverly configured home PC to get this kind of functionality but for those who can set one up it's great. (You can also hire outside help to set this up for you.)

As a diehard fan of Microsoft's Xbox 360, I fully expected to find plenty of issues with Sony's oft-delayed PlayStation 3 (PS3). The price is an obvious sticking point: A fully-loaded 60 GB version of the console retails for a horrific $600, a full $200 more than the premium Xbox 360 version. Availability, as I write this, is still an issue: The console has yet to ship in Europe and other major markets, and in the US, finding a PS3 is like winning the lottery: You have to be really lucky, and in the right place at the right time, though there are indications that this situation is finally improving....

It took alot of time to save for it with a family of 4 on one income but it was worth the wait and the best purchase we ever made as far as gaming goes. My boys are both teenagers and they haven't had to switch out games as they would have for another system. The backwards play works great and the newer games WOW on the graphics. Normally I can't watch the more intense graphic games due to an eye problem and motion sickness but not with the PS3 games.

It also has a little something for everyone, which made the price reasonable compared to what you get for your money. There's no more running from...

Heads above the competition. Great graphics and sound. I'd gladly pay more for this than get another X-Box!!! The sleek body styling of the PS3 makes it an attractive addition to the entertainment center and also allows for good air circulation in the hard drive (preventing the overheating issue that has become a common occurrence in the X-Box). I love the fact that the controller can be plugged in or wireless and you simply plug it back in to charge the battery. This is very convenient. The six gyroscopes inside the controller also make for interesting game play. For example, in Heavenly Sword...

Ok so everyone I know is all hyped up on the Playstation 3.  I think it is a really awesome system.  The BlueRay feature is pretty sweet.  We have had our Playstation 3 for several years.  We got it when it first came out.  All the things you look for in a system it has.  The only flaws that my husband and I have experienced are the BlueRay.  It seems to be out and I have yet to figure out how to fix it.  So now we watch only a selected few dvds on it.  Regular dvds do not seem to work either only a small few.  However the games still work.  The controllers dont stay charged to long...

We set out to buy a blu ray player and were told the Sony's Playstation 3's blu-ray disc player is comparable with the higher end blu-ray players.  Plus, you get the whole gaming system.  It seemed like a good deal to us, so we got one.  We had so much trouble with the sound matching the picture.  Are we alone in this?  Even when we played sing star, the singing wouldn't match the volume.  We thought maybe the t.v. we bought (we bought a Sony high-def tv with the playstation) might have been incompatible so we returned it, went to the Sony store and bought a different tv.  The picture and... review »

I love the PS3, the graphics are almost real and the games are endless!  Maybe  I love it so much because I haven't played a video game since Nintendo!  The Blue Ray makes watching movies better than going to the theatre!!!
